Kurz: Flyers’ Aleksei Kolosov isn’t an NHL goalie. It’s time to pull the plug

  1. > The Flyers have said over and over they prefer to win games during this process of building their team. They can’t keep saying that as long as they continue to run out a goalie who has shown he simply cannot play at this level.

Exactly what I have been getting at. I love that Kolosov is helping the Flyers’ draft position, but the Flyers are being hypocritical about their team expectations by allowing him to play poorly and hurt the team. Even with Ersson hurt, Fedotov could start getting more time in the rotation to try and shake *something* up if they truly cared about what they preach (Remaining competitive, culture, development, etc.)

The only excuse the Flyers have for accepting Kolosov’s poor play hurting the team is that they think it’s worth so for his development, but does anyone really believe playing poorly in the NHL at 22 is better for a struggling goalie’s development than playing in the AHL or KHL, especially when there is a third goalie waiting to go in the pressbox? (When everyone is healthy)

  2. Ok, I understood this guy’s point until he wanted Fedetov and Petersen to tandem for injured Errson.

I don’t think that Petersen is our solution to shit goaltending.

  3. All 3 have been terrible, with Errson obviously playing the best but he cant even stay healthy. I agree Fedotov should get more play time but I don’t think it changes anything.

  4. The local media coverage of this organization is typically sycophantic to a level that would make Goebbels blush. Comcast owns so much of the media/content production and then gatekeeps favorable access/interviews for struggling blogs/channels, that I never see a piece of mainline content that Dan Hilferty himself wouldn’t rubber-stamp with a faded but still garishly blue IBX smudge.

Point being is this suspiciously looks like a mouthpiece story for an org that desperately, above all else, cares about narrative, narrative, narrative that frames them as a world-class, player and fan-friendly organization with a plan and the knowhow to bring a true contender to life. Management likely asked Kurtz for this story, to soften the beachhead before the clearly telegraphed move, and Kolosov’s resulting reactions, now destined to play out in relatively quick succession.

I wish they put as much effort and thought into making smart draft picks as they do in trying to shape public perception.

  5. When Ersson returns send him down. If he wants to be unprofessional and refuses to go/threatens to return home then trade him.

Kid is holding them hostage & now is costing them points in the standings.

  6. It might be time to pull out some rituals to fix whatever goalie curse this organization has, Manning did that whiskey in the endzone for the lions what is it we need to do haha

  7. Okay hear me out. Johnathan Quick. The Rangers are tanking and a veteran in net still with some life left in him might get us over the hump.

  8. It’s been time for a while.  Carrying three goalies continues to be an exercise in stupidity.  Sending him down gives the team more flexibility and would allow us to either bring Andrae back up or another forward like Richard, neither of who deserved to be sent down when they were.

Once Ersson is back, Koly needs to go to the Phantoms and work on his game.  Getting more starts would be the best for everyone, but if he doesn’t want to do it, then it’s time to move on from him.
