The way embellishment is enforced in the NHL illustrates exactly why such rules like “flopping” shouldn’t exist. If you really want to punish someone for such a thing, don’t call the penalty and the person acting will get caught out of positon. Their teammates will eventually tell them to stop since they’re being hung out to dry thanks to the overacting.

This decision combined with a RASH of goaltender interference goals ALLOWED (Wedgewood and Bobrovsky yesterday) it feels like there is legitimate evidence mounting towards a league conspiracy against the Devils lol.

Also the person blatantly hooking will never get punished, depending on how the refs are calling it and managing the game it’s legal. But the flopping is punished harder than something that’s not punished at all. The nhl always punishes the second guy more than they punish the first guy. Selective punishment is wide spread.
