  5. I’m putting our chances at 5%. We were also “top contenders” for Burnes. Then according to reporters after the fact, we had actually barely put in an offer. Lol.

  8. The international signing period opens on January 15th, and the top signings almost always happen that day. The SF Giants have three big commitments. Watching what signings the Giants report that day will be very interesting, and nerve-wracking.

    Also, FWIW, this is the same reporter who had reported the expected bonus amount commitments for a couple of the Giants international prospects they have commitments to.

  12. The scenario I see. Sasaki likes the Giants because he gets a west coast team with Japanese cultural ties of the bay- while being in the same division as his mentor in San Diego and the big stars on the Dodgers. He gets to see those players regularly for mentorship and connections- but gets to challenge himself by having his own spotlight. Japanese media would probably love all the guys competing against each other. Maybe? Give us a 1% chance

  25. The scouting reports on the NPB sub make it seem like he isn’t ready. That he really needs a couple more years in the minors. Still would love to have him but he is far from a sure thing
