Watch @ 2:22–2:23, Hathaway catches him right on the chin as they are going down. That, and his head hitting the ice because he was half out of it from that punch, rang his bell good. Should have tried the Domi reverse elbow!
Thankfully Riley didn’t let him try to get up, or grabbed him after he failed to get up.
Leaf fan here – McCabe gave him a cheap shot when Hathaway was down & paid the price.

At least McCabe stepped up to protect his goalie, kudos to him. If the refs had called a penalty for charging he wouldn't have had to step in.

The ice was the issue here…….Hathaway got his strength and weight and smashe McCabe into the ice and McCabe rocked the back of his head off the ice. The real damage was done there regardless of who was in the right.
Good on McCabe for punishing Hathaway for goalie interference and good on Hathaway for not putting up with the extra curricular activity. This would've been fine except the ice was the true bad guy in this situation. LOL
McCaveman pushed this dude into the goalie and then searched a fight. This dude did not deserve anything less. This is hockey and if you can’t play it fair let it be.

Hathaway landed a right as they were going done plus the head on the ice. Fitting in hockey is no joke, falling to the ice can be nasty.

McCabe was defending his goalie. Leaf fans used to complain when nobody defended anyone else. Now we have guys who step up and you still complain. WTG McCabe. Hathaway has always been a cheap-shot artist.
Big shoutout to Max Domi for taking a 5k fine for taking care of Hathaway. Worth every penny.
