lmao he’s trash
In the OHL he was always a one trick pony
pretty happy my rangers team claimed him, there were rumors the rangers were gonna trade kakko for him about a year ago
I like it, no-risk move, he's a local kid (Staten Island) and Kreider is presumably out for long-term. Reilly Smith is most likely out by the deadline too so there's definitely room to squeeze him in. His 5v5 metrics look ok, he’s just been a perennial 5% shooter. For a guy with his shot that’s surprising. If he doubles that he’s a useful piece to have, I'd put him with Panarin and Trocheck and see what could happen.
If the only question here is how the Rangers could "develop" an already 23 year old average middle-6 player because of the drafting of Lias Andersson, Vitali Kravtsov, and Kaapo Kakko in recent years, the Rangers have a much better track record making use of USA guys. New York is not an easy market to play in as a Euro kid unless you're a future HOF. Kaliyev might make more of an impact for the Rangers in the future than all three of those aforementioned players did in their NYR careers combined.
I like it. Young guy, low risk move.
I never know give this kid a shot
I really wish ppl would point the finger at the scouting staff bc everyone will tell you Lias Anderson and Kratsov were both projected to go way lower and they were mistakes to be even drafted where they were. Kakko sure you can talk development, but some of that’s on him too. Nobody says anything about Chytil or Cuylle or Igor for that matter when it comes to development. Are the LA Kings bad at development bc Kaliyev, Turcotte, and Clarke? Did Fox play for an NHL team prior to NY? I’m sure we could point to a few players on every team and say they’re bad w/ development so get a new narrative that’s more interesting instead of saying the same broken record.
there's always that risk when you put a player on wavers
Hopeful but not excited. That’s how I feel about Arthur Kaliyev
As a Kings fan, I really hope he finds a home in NY and does well.
Attitude problem and lazy? He should fit right in with the Rangers.
I can’t see Brodzinski staying on line 2 now. It’s not like that line has been clicking on all cylinders and Brodzinski is not really a top 6 or even middle 6 forward every night if we are being at all honest. Kaliyev brings a lot more upside. Switch Smith to the left, Arthur to the right and do whatever you think is right with Brodzinski and that’s your rangers lineup
This kid could be Gauthier 2.0. Hartford is beaconing.
This is about as useless as biden heading to New Orleans
We need somethong to get things going. Though it will be a few more years until perrault gets nhl ready.
