For the first time since the pre-pandemic world, the Louisville men’s basketball team has secured a 20-win season.

The Cardinals earned the distinction with yet another convincing road victory, this one a 75-60 triumph over Notre Dame Sunday night in South Bend. The win was U of L’s 12th on the road by 10 points or more, tied for the most in Division-I this season.

Louisville was led by a masterful performance from maestro Chucky Hepburn, who scored 16 points to go along with six assists and three steals. On the other end of the floor, Hepburn also harassed the ACC’s leading scorer, Markus Burton, into a season-high six turnovers.

All five U of L starters scored in double figures on Sunday, with Terrence Edwards (14), Reyne Smith (12) and J’Vonne Hadley (10) all turning in well-rounded performances. James Scott scored 10 points and grabbed 10 boards, good for his fourth double-double of the season.

With the victory, Louisville both secured its 54th 20-win season in program history, and at least one bye in next month’s ACC tournament.

What a dream. Thank goodness it isn’t over yet.
