If we can get a first or an early second for Evans I'm all over it. I asked the guys at Elite Prospects once what the statistical difference was between say the 28th overall and the 40th and they said pretty much no difference as far as projection goes. I don't think there is any way we get a mid first rounder. I think Hughes will cook up something good though.
I have always felt that when there is a roster change, it often (not always) says something significant about the players involved if it has an effect on the team.
We lose Heineman and we hit the schneid. He comes back and we’re 3 for 3.
We lose Kirby Dach and bring in Owen Beck and we’re back in the mix.
Can anything be surmised from the team chemistry by this cause and effect storyline?
Great show Shaun..
i think and thats just my opinion we have a huge pool of young players try them out see what you need to keep and what you have to trade but we have to know before we get rid of players is there another player ready to take his place next year.Like kirby we know he,s not our guy so why keep hoping we have so many young players ready to show that they are ready at some point we have to know what we need and what we have and get whats missing i don,t think we are going to make the playoffs so lets try new stuff see what happens
I hate to play the "ifs and buts" game, but just 3 more wins this season and we're sitting in a playoff spot right now, and there were at least 3 games this season that we could've or should've won. All we had to do is not completely shit the bed in the second half of January and we wouldn't even be considering selling before the deadline.
With the way this year has gone, I won't count them out now, but we've gotta go about 16-7 to get in. But if the team is playing well enough that they're still knocking at the door to the playoffs a week from now, it won't make sense to change things up and bring in a rental.
I think they’re more likely to get a 1st for a package of Armia and Evans if they also act as a third party broker and bring in another team for a 3-way trade. Habs would perhaps get a first and retain on a big money contract in its final year (or with two years left). That retained player would go to a third team, Habs would get a first and a 3rd, and other team would get Evans and Armia.
still too far back not to make moves if someone is offering hugo a good return., especially evans. They don't need to move armia / dvorak, won;t get a decent return anyway and can still play important games, beck can handle the center spot.
Habs dont need a late 1st round pick. People in comments have no clue how to run a team.
Wondering what Evan's camp is really thinking? I hope he gets his $4+/5 years. If NHL team does that deal, they will be making other bad deals. Hopefully it's in Habs division and or conference.
My point of view is as follows. Jake and Joel are to important i would try and sign them because if they to a team that the habs could face in 2-3 yrs. X habs players always play better against them and in a playoff as well.
I don't like that. Thanks Kevin
I’m currently living in the MST2025. (That’s MAGA States of Trump, not Mystery Science Theater. We’re not far off.) I can’t stream TSN690 even running a vpn set to anywhere in Canada. I’m very happy to catch you on YT. Keep up the great work.

Perhaps, more importantly, the Habs possess a high hockey intelligence from a management o on ice degree. They know what they're doing! And I love the recent bits I've read today about not really needing the picks because they managed to cull many via the rebuild and that they'd be happy to keep the said players being pursued by playoff contenders. In addition, they might go for a package that ups their value for something better. Way to hang it! No wonder why Montreal has won 24 Stanley Cups. With that approach, #25 is on the way! 🏒🥅 🚨
Maybe after deadline we can talk about prospects and Laval players who would be able to replace guys that can't be resigned (for whatever reason). I think Anderson and Gallagher should stay. We need aggressive and feisty players too should be interesting to watch
This situation the Canadians are in by knocking on the to make the playoffs is a huge distraction. It makes no sense towards making the playoffs. The hole objective is rebuilding a team that has the capability to go deeper. Into the playoff run not to get bounced in the first round of the playoffs and then what, you're gonna delay the process of your rebuild by having all these veterans on board not able to bring up your youth development players and insert them Into the line building the foundation of the future of the Montreal Canadiens . Go back into the pass the and you'll see the iconic players that. We're traded.. it's time to move on into the future and to rewrite the history books of the Montreal Canadians organization, and boy oh boy its looking very promising future.
The Habs will not let Jake Evans go for free at the end of the season, absolutely no way. Hughes will put a package together to get what he wants. As Shaun said, the Habs have a number of draft picks to package with Evans.
