Madison Keys just does not know how to lose a tennis match as she extender her winning streak to 14 matches with victory over Elise Mertens. The American started the season with a quarter-final exit in Auckland but has since won title in Adelaide and at the Australian Open where she claimed her maiden Grand Slam title. Now Keys will look to capture a big title on home soil as she aims to continue her incredible tennis at Indian Wells.

The American’s next opponent is Croatian Donna Vekic who had an incredible 2024 season. The 19th seed reached her first Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon before claiming a historic silver medal at the Olympics. This season hasn’t gone according to plan for Vekic but the 28 year-old will be boosted by producing her best performance of the season against Emma Navarro. Now Vekic will look to run with the momentum and reach the last 16 in California.

Keys will look to be aggressive on serve as she will use the backhand to force shorter balls from Vekic. Meanwhile Vekic will look to produce attacking tennis on return forcing Keys into big unforced errors. This will be a good match especially if Vekic produces her best tennis but the American should have too much consistent quality for the Croatian.

Prediction: Keys in three sets.

It’s been an impressive display from Carlos Alcaraz so far as the Spaniard has overcome two tough opponents to reach the fourth round. After a decent start to the season, Alcaraz is aiming to take advantage of an opportunistic draw as he seeks his third consecutive Indian Wells title. However, the question is can Alcaraz up the intensity by himself in order to maintain his concentration throughout the tournament?

Next for Alcaraz is Grigor Dimitrov after the Bulgarian reached the last 16 in California with a last set tiebreak win over Gael Monfils. The 14th seed has had a season full of injuries and setbacks so far and is yet to reach his best level with his body failing to cope with the physical demands of the tour. Now Dimitrov will be hoping Indian Wells can be the start of his resurgence as he has ranking points to defend over the next few months.

Alcaraz will be aggressive on serve while using the forehand to pin Dimitrov behind the baseline. Meanwhile Dimitrov will look to be attacking on the backhand side as he will use angles to create space on the court. This will be a competitive contest but Alcaraz should have too much quality and consistency to defeat an erratic Dimitrov.

Prediction: Alcaraz in three sets.

A hard-fought win for Coco Gauff over Maria Sakkari sparked some life into the American’s game as she had been struggling for form recently. After a deep run at the Australian Open, Gauff had continued to repeat the same mistakes on serve with a catalogue of unforced errors following. However, there are now signs that Gauff is ready to step up her game when it matters most as she will hope that this level of play can continue throughout the rest of her sunshine double campaign.

The next obstacle for Gauff is an Australian Open rematch against Belinda Bencic which Gauff won. The 28 year-old’s comeback to the tour has gone better than expected with Bencic winning the WTA 500 event in Abu Dhabi a few weeks ago and now sits at 58 in the world. The Swiss will hope the form continues as she aims for a place back in the world’s top 50, aiming to secure more big wins.

Gauff will hope to be consistent on serve as he will use her effective forehand to carve out winners. Meanwhile Bencic will look to take the ball early on the backhand side and rush Gauff’s baseline game. This should be a tough match for Gauff and if the American doesn’t produce consistent tennis then she could be on the next flight to Miami.

Prediction: Bencic in three sets.
