100% with you on this one. He's been playing way beyond my expectations. First off, hes grown. He's 6'3 now, and I've read he might be up to 220lbs. He's listed at 207lb.
His defensive play is great. More physical than I thought. Love when he got shoved and threw the guy down and gave him 2 good punches as a receipt.
His offensive potential is what has surprised me the most. Excellent skating. Very good passing and very decent shot.
Mailloux has a lot of the same attributes besides the defensice play. That's the difference. Reinbacher seems to have great hockey IQ, so all these attributes gel together well as a highly effective dman, in the AHL. However, this type of play translates well to the NHL. Mailloux still needs to work on his decision making. Clearly the hockey IQ is an issue, and he's far behind Reinbacher at the moment.
He looks to me like the guy that is going to play with Hutson on the 1st pairing. If that is where he lands, i can see him eventually getting 40 points per season.
I'm very pleasantly surprised. It looks like the whole league might have underestimated him. Let's hope he keeps it up!!

I was not happy when he was drafted, until I understood the need across the NHL for right side defensemen who are elite. He is showing all the indicators of becoming elite.
I am happy that I was proven wrong
How about 51 kapanen and Ivan. That would be a dangerous young guns line, moving forward.
Hutson – Reinbacker
Ghule. – Big shut down specialist
Xhekaj. – Mailloux
We need a big shut down specialist. Maybe drafting Radim Mrtka is the solution?
Kapanen is ahead of Beck and Roy. He could be the #2 centre.
Don't forget Bogdan. That guy doesn't get nearly enough attention.
Reinbacher will be surely filling a need on defense. One of his previous coach(Jerry Fleming), in the Swiss league, compared him to Jeff Petry because he also had coached Petry which played as a second pairing defenseman in Montreal. Some people are already saying just after a few AHL games that Reinbacher will be a futur "elite" right defenseman, but I will wait a few years before coming to that opinion…Indeed, in Montreal, most players are overhyped until time shows they are not worthy of that status !!!
Great update on the prospect
WOW SHAUN. KNEE OPERATIONS ARE NOT AN EXCUSE. I'M NOT A PRO ATHELTIC. TOOK ME 6 MONTH BEFORE I WAS COMFORTMABLE. WITH DACK IT IS NOT JUST KNEE OPERATION . GIVE HIM A BREAK.
The Future is going to be fun . Hugo have drafted well. Trades have been hit n miss but they took a shot. The culture is noticable… guys are playing for and with each other. The talent is coming and there are going to be casualties. I like what I see.
Where is Lainie
Reinbacher is looking great
If the line up I saw for tonight's game against Seattle is true, I scratch my head . Pezz on the second line with Newhook and Roy….MSL needs to give Hiennaman a closer look. Move him to the second line and pezz to the 4th
The years when Montreal basically won everything they had an over the top great defense. They had great forwards and good goaltending but their defense was otherworldly.
