LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – One of the five disc golf courses in Lincoln, Beal Slough, is ranked 70th out of the top 100 best courses in the world, according to UDisc’s annual World’s Best Disc Golf Courses.
James Fleegee, the Vice President of the Lincoln Flying Disc Club, has been playing disc golf since he was a kid, and now he’s been able to design both the Bethany course, and Beal Slough.
“There’s a mixture of wood, open area, there’s a creek running through here, some subtle elevation changes,” Fleegee said. “So designing the course one of the challenges was to use all the elements together to create something that’s challenging but fun and fair.”
The 18-hole course was installed in 2021, and attracts numerous people during the warm months looking to get a hole in one.
“We’ve just seen so many people come out to both of these courses for the first time and getting new people interested and involved in the game,” Fleegee said.
The course jumped 18 spots from it’s ranking last year, and is the only course ranked in the top 100 in Nebraska.
“It’s more difficult in general and I think that’s something folks were looking for.”
Whether it’s golf, or disc golf, there’s no shortage of places around the capital city to hit the green.
