Canario might be dangerous. Wish we could find a way to retain him
OMG has made the Padres per Heyman
What’s the deal with Alexander Canario? He seems low key… really good? Why did the Cubs DFA him and why shouldn’t the Mets protect him by rostering?
I am forming a petition to keep Canario on the 40 man roster.
Also, do we know who will be our starting second baseman on opening day?
•If the Mets do decide to trade for a premier starter by the trade deadline, then Sandy Alcantara fits all their criteria.
•He’s entering his age 29 Season
•He’s under contract for two more seasons, with a team option for a third season in 2027
•His luxury tax number is $11.2M for 2025 & 2026; this number increases to $21M in 2027, if the team option is exercised
•Unlike other possible trade options such as Dylan Cease & Michael King, Alcantara would not be a rental option
•If Alcantara manages to stay healthy, then his contract would be 3/$55.6M (if his team option is exercised), which is roughly a $18.5M AAV, for his age 29-31 Seasons
$17.3M in 2025 & 2026
$21M for 2027
Trading for him would cost an absolute haul, in terms of draft capital, but it may definitely be worth it
Imma be a little pissed if we let canario go, called it from the start dude can hit
Just watched Mickey 17. I thought it was good! The teleportation ethics question that turned into Princess Monoke at the end lol. Go see it!
