  1. This title reminds me of when that one guy posted Kwan was his friend and how arbitration was going to happen and how Kwan was disappointed. But then an hour later they agreed. Lol

As for this meme – yes use that Gimmy money to extend him.

  2. What do you guys think a Kwan extension look like? I worry the dude is gonna hit 25 home runs this year and double his AAV 😫

  3. I think they want to wait a few months. If his numbers are starting to dip then we’ll sign up for cheaper. That seems to be the way we’ve operated since 2010.

  4. It’s probably already to late since he’s already gotten to his arb years.

I’d love to see something get worked out I just don’t see it as likely.

  5. I am 1000% convinced they will not extend or re-sign him. Enjoy him while we can but we don’t want to spend the money and Kwan wants to move back to California, The Dodgers will give him $600 million and probably get a WS ring, why would he take 1/10th of that to live in Cleveland and not win a ring?

  6. Extend him then offer his jersey and obi Kwan merchandise and you’ll make all the money back

  7. I can’t remember where I heard the take, but as things currently stand and the aging curve on hitters, it’s far less advantageous for them to take the guaranteed money than pitchers. Hitting free agency still in your 20s is the only way for most position players to truly cash in. There’s demand for pitchers that allows guys to make decent money in their 30s (even on short-term deals) that doesn’t exist for bats.

  8. We don’t need to. He is 28 this summer and under team control for 3 more seasons (including this one)

Aka he’ll be 31. Why extend him past that ?

  9. It’s pretty obvious imo they made him a guards offer and he’s looking for a LAD /NYm offer

  10. Man imagine we extended him instead of Myles straw in that time period. Although I don’t think it would’ve gotten past his arbitration years. Idk though

  11. I love Kwan. He’s my favorite player to watch play, the grit, the hustle, the swing, give me all of it. But, the Guards would have to be nuts to offer a big money extension right now. If we’re being objective, we still don’t know the type of player Kwan is at bat and on the basepaths. Is he the six WAR guy from his rookie season, the 8 WAR guy from May and June of last year, or the three WAR guy from the end of last season and 2023. Committing Jose type money to a player who could easily turn out to be that 3-4 WAR player just isn’t going to happen with this franchise, especially considering what just went down with Gimenez.

  12. It takes 2 to do an extension. I haven’t read where he is actually wanting one, have I missed something? Or maybe he is just waiting for free agency to get a big payday.
