Brian Gutekunst says the Green Bay Packers won’t “chase” pass rush; they have enough on the roster

Brian Gutekunst says the Green Bay Packers have enough pass rush already on the roster — I swear this isn’t an April Fool’s joke. Can they really afford to wait to draft someone? Plus, what keeping Rasheed Walker would mean for the rest of the Packers offensive line.

  1. What is getting lost in this Tush push argument is that the offense is often lining up offside before the snap. This, plus the defense is not allowed line up over the ball, nor allowed to double up and push in a similar manner from their side. Too much of an advantage for the offensive side of the ball.

  2. The NFL now has tape on LVN and know he's a one-trick pony. He has a bull rush and gives maximum effort but hasn't added a counter-move. He doesn't have much bend and isn't a "speed guy". He's the same guy he was in college, the difference is the NFL scouts at a higher level and every player is as good or better than he is so having elite traits does little when you don't have an edge.

  3. The Green Bay Packers had flashes of dominant pass-rushing ability last season, but it was never consistent, and it too often disappeared in big games that even Brian Gutekunst doesn’t deny. Still, Brian Gutekunst believes that his defensive line has “everything” required to go play high-level football right now, and he’s not going to chase an edge rusher or defensive tackle during the 2025 NFL Draft because he believes in developmental potential of the players already on the team. The Green Bay Packers have Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, and Lukas Van Ness returning, plus veterans such as Kingsley Enagbare, Karl Brooks,, Colby Wooden, and Brenton Cox. A big investment has already been made, and the talent level should be enough. But the Green Bay Packers weren’t good enough at rushing the opposing quarterback under Jeff Hafley’s 1st season as their defensive coordinator, even if the defense overall took big steps in the right direction. There is always risk in banking on internal development because there’s no guarantee that it will arrive, no matter how confident a team is in the players and coaches. Then again, there is risk in losing faith in the process and investing valuable resources that could block development for others or could be used better elsewhere on this Green Bay Packers roster. The Green Bay Packers can be highly confident in the current state of their roster along their defensive line, which is a reality made clear by the team’s spending in free agency and Brian Gutekunst’s own words, and still invests during the 2025 NFL Draft. Long-term roster needs still exist at both edge rusher and defensive tackle. If the Green Bay Packers’ pass-rush improves next season, I expect internal development with rookie assistance to power it. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

  4. If your paying attention, you'll notice that Gutes is morphing into a Jerry Jones, he doesn't believe that he ever makes a bad decision, if a Player doesn't pan out it's someone else's fault. 2 years away.

  5. Jaires not the smartest guy. Just listen to him talk for more than 2 minutes. He's not going to take a pay cut. The packers will end up releasing him.

  6. I read it as Gutey saying he is not gonna expend draft capital to move around the draft board in order to grab a particular pass rusher. That’s my read.

  7. Is there such a thing as a pass rush smoke screen? That’s what it sounds like to me. I would be suprised if Gutey doesn’t draft an edge rusher or two. Isn’t this a prime example of competition helping this group be better?

  8. Pushing the ball carrier period shouldn't be allowed! David Montgomery getting a extra 7 yards when his feet were off the ground because his teammates carried him is just stupid

  9. Gutey can say whatever he wants, we need Edge and DT, and maybe not only one in each place. I hope Gutey says trying not to give any advice to Detroit Lions or Philly. If not, he should be fired today.
