Astros Swept at Home, Fall to 2-4: Framber Falters, Offense Lacks Firepower

The Houston Astros are off to a rocky start in 2025, falling to 2-4 after being swept at home by the San Francisco Giants. Despite out-hitting the Giants in the series finale, the Astros’ offense lacked the power needed to drive in runs, recording zero extra-base hits. Singles alone won’t win games, and certainly won’t win championships.

Framber Valdez, the team’s ace, had a disappointing outing, struggling with focus and command. When the Astros needed their leader to step up, he simply wasn’t sharp. This early-season skid is raising concerns—are these just growing pains, or is this a sign of deeper issues?

  1. This team stinking it up. Tired hou media making excuses… we facing some really good arms. Alvarez didnt hit vs spring pitching. Fans spend a lot of money to go to mmp and watch this. Come the ÷$&< on.

  2. They are overthinking every at bat. They all look so tight. They need to loosen up and just play the sport they were raised on

  3. Great teams don’t generally get swept at home. I understand how early it is, but this can sometimes be a disturbing indication. The Dodgers were never swept at home last year. We weren’t swept at home in 2022 when we won the World Series. We just got swept by a team who is projected to finish fourth in our division this year. I don’t care how early it is, this team isn’t good.

  4. I think it's time to face it, we had a great run the past 10 years, but we all knew it was going to come to an end eventually … time to start the process of rebuilding..

  5. The astros are dead last in offensive categories except batting average, where they are 3rd from last. Most players in the MLB have more homeruns than the Astro's team total of 2.

  6. Forget locking up the younger guys like Merrill if they have Boras as their agent. Tucker could not sign an extension with the team because he was always looking for a mega contract via Boras his agent. He was always going to be a gonner. Forget signing Hunter long term now that he has Boras as his agent as well.

  7. Tomorrow has to be a offense practice because sure they out hit the Giants but they couldn't hit the ball more they should work on hitting more doubles instead of songles they should always have the mindset of its always 0-0 and have the mindset also as just out score them and dont let them get a chance to score but at the plate they should just keep their mind clear and on the field for defense have the mind clear as well but before the game have the mindset to out score them and not give them a chance to score

  8. These games have been maddening to watch. The line outs and groundouts are out of control. They are all getting on top of the ball. Its like a contagion.

  9. They stare down middle-middle pitches with their bat on their shoulder, and then flail at ANYTHING low and away…. The attrition has caught up with them, and they don't look like a team with much heart or fight.

  10. Calm down. Geez we're 6 games in with a bunch of new guys on the team and a second year manager. He always starts slow. If you remember, we started 1-5 last year and we're 12 and 25 or something like that. The bats aren't going to stay cold this long, we need to get away from Houston and come together as a team. It starts in Minnesota. Let's go!

  11. 2B Jose Altuve
    3B Cam Smith
    LF Yordan Alvarez
    C Yanier Diaz
    1B Christian Walker
    DH Isaac Paredes
    RF Zach Dezenzo
    SS Jeremy Pena
    CF Chas McCormick
