“All told, it was a closer game than it felt at even strength and the Blue Jackets were unlucky to not have found a goal on the powerplay. This game could have gone differently, but it didn’t, and the looseness that allowed 7 goals has likely now doomed the season.”
The entire section about MacKinnon’s play and how the Avs do things is really interesting, and something we could learn from.

Here’s some analysis from a fan who attended: mega ass
Notably missing from the article: Elvis was straight ass. 3.53 expected goals last night. On an individual game basis fancy stats don’t mean much but holy shit did the eye test confirm the stats.
You’re not gonna win games when your goalie Isa sieve and then throws a tantrum and storms off.
They mentioned it in the broadcast but Evason doesn’t pull goalies. Going through three seasons I found he pulled the goalie one time (Marc Andre Fleury where he gave up 7 in the season opener and let in 4 in the first period of the second game), and that includes a 9-1 shellacking in 2021 against the Blues where he left Kahkonen out there with a .763 SV% on 38 shots.
Elvis pulled himself out of the game. He quit on his team and I wish they had the nuts to send him down to Cleveland and eat his salary to send a message.
Not much you can do about MacK daddy. I watch a lot of games and he’s been the best player I’ve watched all season. Line 1 really competed against his line but our bottom 6 was non competitive. I know people don’t have much patience for Chinakhov anymore and JVR is missing in action but we really need them in the lineup. There’s not much threat on 3 and 4 right now, makes us easier to play against. It also hasn’t helped that Vronk can’t buy one. He has 2 goals since February 1. His bit about KJ and Fantilli not recognizing what a defense is giving them was spot on. Fantilli has made more plays but he’s also forced a bit too much and KJ has been kind of passive in 5v5.
