Interesting. It’s impossible to prove/ disprove but There’s probably something to the fact that it feels like this team (going back a few years) either very very much has the pitchers number or very very doesn’t.
And the Tiger’s scouting report for us?

Impossible to deny the brilliance in Skubal’s performance today. His change up was fucking nasty. That being said, absolutely SUCKS to be on the receiving end of it. Would have much preferred to watch a game like that as a neutral lol
Skubal is the best pitcher in the league, this isn’t that outrageous.
Heaney obviously doesn’t have near as good of stuff but followed the same formula. Sounds like they should expect that from LHP until they can prove it doesn’t work.
Skubal is filthy but its Heaney and Mize? Same old same old. Same Boone quotes. Nothing will change

Team brought back the two biggest faces of failure in Cashman and Boone and then proceeded to do nothing to try to get better.
Not sure why anybody ever thought this season was going to be different. It’s the same shit as the last 15 years except the starting pitching is worse.
Idk even if they had an accurate scouting report would have it really mattered? Elite pitcher with elite stuff in brutal weather to hit in vs a bad lineup against LHP… guys throws 97-99 I don’t think anyone would willingly go up there to sit off speed
This was the same thing that happened with Heaney. At least the YES brother kept saying “he throws mostly fast alls so watch for a lot of heat.” Then he came out, threw a bunch of bendy stuff and shut them down
Skubal just had a quick adjustment. The scouting report was right, look at the first two batters of the game. Both sitting on the hard stuff and scorched singles once skubal gave it to them.
There was no recognition that skubal had shifted his game plan though, no counter adjustment

Skubal is filthy and probably adjusted his approach. Throwing mostly heat to the Yanks doesn’t really end well
Getting shut down by the reigning CYA winner in conditions you typically celebrate the holidays didn’t really have anybody questioning the Yankees’ approach.
That being said, if your scouting report is off, maybe make some in-game adjustments? This makes it sound like “oops, scouting report was wrong, guess we’ll lose this one.”

Didn’t Pettite once say in an interview whomever was catching him in one game called the pitches exactly the opposite of how he usually pitched?
He pitched a gem so this is obviously a strategy to make scouting reports worthless
guy was laughing in the dugout in between innings, it was like a spring training game for him
ANOTHER PR BLUNDER FOR THE YANKEES ANALYTIC TEAM
It definitely feels like the last few years teams are taking advantage of our analytics-obsessed approach. Pitchers have access to the same reports our hitters do on their tendencies and can game plan to do the opposite of what we expect.
Historically they’ve always had trouble with junk ballers.
Why would we admit this to the media?
