  1. Just saw this. Sad news for sure. Saw the nightclub incident much earlier today.

  2. For 3 years he was one of the best set up men in baseball and his two years with the Sox were solid. Sad news.

  3. Man real sad to hear. I heard a lot of people passed away so hopefully they try to prevent it from happening in the future.

  4. Swag, great pitcher, electric!
The high socks were cool growing up and not a lot of players wore the pants like this. He was definitely cool and loved watching him!

  5. I gained a lot as a kid learning to pitch from watching the way he would attack hitters. He was one of the rare post-World Series reliever signings that actually worked out for us. RIP.

  6. Totally bummed to hear this. I knew people who met him once. They saw him walking back after a game and invited him up. They said he stayed for several hours and was a really cool dude. This sucks.

  7. This dude was my favorite relief pitcher to get irrationally mad at in the 08 campaign.

    This sucks.

  8. Sucks to hear, If I recall correctly we had one of the better bullpens during the late 2000’s with Octavio Dotel, Scott Linebrink, Matt Thorton and I’m sure a few others I’m forgetting, Only 51 too, Gone way too early.

  9. I recall DJ, I believe, referring to him as β€œOh, do tell.” RIP.

  10. Doesn’t he still hold the record for playing on the most teams?

Edit: this will affect a lot of fan communities

  11. God damn man. RIP Octavio. I can see his windup and pitch right now in my head.

  12. May his family, friends, and fans find peace during this sad time. RIP Octavio πŸ™.

  13. Even though he was only here for a couple seasons, Dotel is one of my favorite Sox pitchers of that era.

    RIP πŸ™πŸ½
