It just gets ridiculous at this point. I honestly can’t tell anymore if all the comments are trolls or if people legitimately think this.

OKC also has a -252 in free throw differential on the year after last night’s game.

  1. Feel like ft discourse just sucks around the league. Looking at the last game…i think austin reaves has the ft whistle people think shai has…we did foul him a lot…but man does he have a superstar whistle and he isnt a superstar.

Could you imagine if jdub had his whistle.

As for the ft differential i think its a complete non factor. We foul a lot…jdub doesnt get calls. Its about where i expect it to be

  2. I mean, the ref did eject last year’s MVP runner-up/LAL’s best player for nothing. The course of the game completely changed after that, which sucked as a fan of both OKC and LAL. Fouls were annoyingly for LAL/against OKC the whole game, but the ejection killed the game for LAL/won it for OKC. If the ejection didn’t happen, it would have been one of the best games of the season: there were so many lead changes and it was still close (108-107) at that point. I’m disappointed as an NBA fan at the officiating last night.

  3. It’s funny that lakers fans think the nba would rather have a small market team, that wasn’t even considered for a Christmas game this year, win a game over the most popular franchise that also has LeBron

  4. I miss when the Lakers were mired in mediocrity and downright bad after the Kobe years. Hell, even these last couple of years when they weren’t doing shit with LeBron and Davis. Their fans weren’t as insufferable. They have some success in a single season and immediately become toxic. Lakers fans are the Dallas Cowboys fans of the NBA

  5. I don’t agree with the narrative on r/NBA that this ruined a great game. Sure, the score was close, but the refs already had their fingerprints all over this one. Look at the stat line… This game was only close in the first place because of the FT discrepancy. While some discrepancy is always going to exist, anyone who actually watched this game could see it was fairly one-sided in terms of common foul calls. The Lakers shot FTs 5 or 6 possessions in a row at one point in the third or fourth quarter.

To me, that’s not that great of a game.

  6. It’s so weird scrolling through r/NBA and seeing so many people with non-Laker user flairs jumping to LA’s defense. I mean I expect the whining from Laker fans but I don’t know when the rest of the NBA fandom got so cucked that they just shamelessly simp for the Lakers now. We used to hate teams that just load up on stars (especially in the ridiculous way LAL got Luka) and root for small market teams with homegrown and developed talent. You don’t see baseball fans jumping to defend the Dodgers, hell no. So weird.

  7. Last night’s game was as simple as this: the refs, or that ref in particular, is tired of a basketball player constantly bothering him. WAS Luka talking shit to a fan that was nearby the ref? Fuck if I know, but he’s a grown ass man….keep it moving if you’re on a tech already. Unless that fan “crossed the line” then yapping was a waste of time.

With that typed, SGA constrained himself. Jalen constrained himself. LeBron constrained himself. Everyone except that bum of a player and Luka constrained themselves.

This is a “you” problem and not a “us” problem if you’re upset, fan.
