200% should have just ran the clock out toward the end like Oilers did in the second
Holy shit oilers fans are insufferable in the r/hockey thread
(I know we can be a bit much too but damn)
Shite officiating all game, more shite at the end. Who the fuck is Conor Brown? Two rookies essentially benched all 3rd period. Pucks not going our way, Thomas can’t shoot to save his life, blown assignments in the D zone, and somehow we were in it to the end. Come back Colton, come back Dylan, we need you both asap.
I never complain about calls/no-calls, but holy shit what a fuck-you to the blues on the Walker breakaway no-call. Fuck the refs, fuck the announcers, and most of all fuck Corey fucking Perry.
2 things happened tonight that were noticeable. Binner let in 2 that while just snuck in, are usual saves for him. And Thomas had a chance to open that game up and put us up 2-3 goals but kept missing on his shot. I’d bet the underlying stats say we win that game like 8/10 times cause we blew more high danger chances.
If anyone has a video of Walker getting murdered at the end, please post it. My rage needs more fuel
Really fucking hate this loss. Depleted Oiler team and they couldn’t hang on for at least a point. The non call is fucking shit but fuck me I just felt it coming with how they played that 4 on4, trying to get to OT the whole time and then not keeping possession with McDavid coming out of the box. This team can’t finish a game for shit and that’s alarming. Fuck
Alright tell it like it is, what do we need to clinch lmao?
I had a feeling the moment we knew McDavid would be back that he was gonna McDavid that skeleton crew lineup to a win, and sure enough! I’m annoyed, but my god what a good game by McDavid!
So fucking annoying. Leaving motherfuckers wide open in front of the net all night after we were almost unstoppable protecting the middle before we reverted. Our lack of closing out the final minute is probably one of the worst fatal flaws we could have. Monty needs to address and answer for this shit. It kills our confidence when we need it most. I honestly can see us blowing this in an unbelievably embarrassing way to close the season and it make it.
Blues need any combo of Flames losses/Blues wins totaling 3 points to secure the spot
Officially time to worry if in the blues. These last 2 games are playoff hockey now. Blew one tonight
I am slightly comforted by the fact that many “solid” playoff teams have also shit the bed this week. At least we didn’t pull a Dallas…
Need to reset and finish strong then the playoffs is a whole new ballgame
What bothers me most about the no-call on Walker is the NHL specifically called out a directive to call that play a penalty this season, as it’s a very dangerous play for all 3 players, the attacker, defender, and goalie… it’s been called all season but in McJesus’ return against the hottest team in the league? Nah definitely not calling that.
god fuck
So need to get 2 points in Seattle. Need to stop at Pikes market for a chicken for Jobu.
I hate the Oilers and their fans more than any other team. Really would’ve liked to have at least won a single game on them this season. Oh well, I hope the Kings bounce them in the first round for once.
I hate how Calgary still has 4 games, and of course one of them is against Minnesota. Realistically, I’d say they win two, lose one, and get 1 point from one, bringing them to 93 points. So long story short, we cannot lose out.
Another solid 19:30 seconds of hockey that means jack shit in the end. The Holloway loss is really showing how vulnerable our scoring is. Good to see Buch pick things up here the last 4 games, but we’ve got nothing going on offensively outside of the top line right now. Being unable to take advantage of a team missing regulars and only playing 5 D just exemplifies the problem.
Also, Dvorsky only got 8 minutes TOI tonight? Jeez.. guess we aren’t seeing him next game 🙁
Dang it.I’m over mcdavid, I’m over Edmonton and I’m over their insufferable fans.
It’s pretty fucking cute how not one single TNT corporate whore even bothers to mention the Walker mugging, during the game telecast and after. Pathetic.
We’re fuckin’ pathetic closing out games but Christ almighty that’s such a blatant trip. The ref even went to blow his whistle but thought twice for whatever reason.
Brutal game in all honesty, but as someone said in the GDT there has to come more from veterans like Faulk and Schenner …
Also think Dvorsky and Snuggy looked a bit lost tonight, but there’s plenty to come from them, I’m sure.
On to the next one!
I’m so fucking disappointed right now there’s no way I can sleep lol
I’m not a regular commenter, but I’d like to get a few things off my chest tonight, and I have been having these thoughts even during the winstreak, so I don’t want to portray this as a 2 game losses in a row overreaction.
Firstly, Jake Neighbors might be the unluckiest player the NHL lol. Watching throughout this season and if the guy had been a bit luckier on a few bounces he might be up to the 35 goal mark (exaggeration but emphasizes my point.) That final shot was a perfect example.
Secondly, I respect the hell out of Brayden Schenn, he’s been a great Blue, and appears to be a great leader not only in the locker room, but for the community as well. That being said, he’s got to go this off-season. If you watch the games and you look from top – down he’s the one guy that feels like he’s out of place. This Blue’s team is incredibly fast, talented and youthful and it just feels like via the eyeball test that he’s the odd guy out of the team’s schematic. If he was our 4C I’d understand, but for a guy to be a 2C getting to play with premier players like Jordan Kyrou on his line night in and night out it just feels like he can’t keep up. He’s great when it comes to the physicality and a decent net front presence, but on a team like this I feel like there’s no excuse for him to be on the 2nd Powerplay unit, and our 2C. I’d much rather be playing another young guy, or looking for someone to fill his role in the off season with much more speed. I get we need the leadership aspect, and that’s fine, but his play from his current role doesn’t justify it based on just leadership. I also understand he’s above a .5 point per game player, but surely I can’t be the only one that feels like he fails the eyeball test. After this year I see a sharp regression and I think it’s time to move on in some capacity.
Lastly, that TNT commentary was absolutely god awful. Actually painful listening to the on-ice crew.
Edmonton fans are litterally dumber than a rock. Holy moly they’re stupid or blind. Or both.
I’ve haven’t been this mad after a loss in a long time. Nurse not being called for tripping on Walker is a Goddamn crime.
Second consecutive loss 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I am definitely not a doomer and still am full of reckless optimism
But if this team misses the playoffs it will do a number on my mental health
Everyone in here needs to give their balls a tug. The streak ended and then we lost another one. If it was easy, it wouldn’t be the path for the Blues. We don’t get handed games and we sure as hell don’t get handed playoff spots. The boys have to *and will* fight for it. Give me some pissed off Blues with their backs to the wall any day. Let’s fucking go!
I’m starting to hate the “One minute to play” announcement.
I think this loss gets the boys so angry, they easily win the next 2.
I was really hoping they would eat clock to get the 1 point instead of opening up a track meet at the end there, penalty call or not. I had this bad spidey sense when McD was out there with a bunch of open ice and back and forth play.
Want to keep your sanity? Stay far away from any thread infested with Edmonton fans on twitter/x. They are a massively dumb fan base. I’m not even talking standard shit here. They are truly a ridiculous bunch of dummies. I actually used to sort of like the oilers, but holy *fuck* those fans are idiots.
Gotta be the worst team in the NHL when there’s 2 minutes left in a game.
And it was like this under Berube too. This may be a leadership issue, our players just don’t have a killer instinct at the end of games. Fucking soft and pitiful.
I’d be fine with 0 points on 2 roadies vs WPG and EDM, but it felt like the Blues could have stolen a point or 3 this week. That’s what stings.
I’m worried about the Knights and Kings sitting players in those final games against Calgary. The blues really need to take care of their own business
Well shit. I’ve got to be up for work at 5:30 tomorrow and I am WIDE awake lol. These late starts kill me
It’s time to temper expectations without Holloway. They are a one-line team without him. And it sounds more and more like he may be done for the season.
And the Parayko loss is really starting to rear its ugly head the more some of these defenseman are exposed to large minutes.
Still in the driver’s seat to get in and get this young roster valuable experience with playoff hockey. I’m excited to see it. Can’t wait to see what upgrades are made in the offseason though. This is a contending roster starting next year with a few additions.
Monty has some work to do. We can’t do much in the playoffs when we’re getting out-forechecked by every team.

When the announcers say “With under a minute to go in regulation”
This is ridiculous. This giving up a goal in the last minute is getting old. They really need to clean that up before the post season
RECKLESS OPTIMISM
Is Colton traveling with the team? Asking because Faulk looks absolutely cooked
All year long they’ve been allergic to getting points in these close games and that may very well cost them the playoffs. What a collapse this may end up being and then you have this weird feeling about a season that suddenly feels like a massive choke job and disappointment.
