Listening to Sam and JD really made me miss my grandfather. Reminds me of all the amazing calls we heard together. I am so happy TNT did this.
Miss you Pop.
It really felt like they hadn’t missed a step together. I love Joe too, but it was a fun time with JD back in the box.
JD was and still apparently is significantly better than Micheleti. He’s much more relaxed, doesn’t take the game so seriously and has a great sense of humor. It’s like watching every game with your funny uncle who also knows a sh*t ton about hockey.
I missed these guys so much. MSG should have done something like this too.
I have never not heard Sam on an MSG broadcast Rangers game, next year is gonna be fucking weird
only reason I sat through that entire garbage game was for these two.
JD calling Sam “big boy” was music to my ears
Damn travesty
Thanks big boy 😟
the Rangers are a travesty. such a sad ending
Goosebumps with these 2!! OOHHHH BABY
My childhood was filled with them signing off to many losses during the dark ages. Too bad they couldn’t close it with a win
During the pregame, Sam said something along the lines of how he anticipated and enjoyed calling every game, no matter how the team was doing. If only this current roster could have looked at it in the same manner. Sam is class personified. To paraphrase Bob Dylan, he’s gonna make us lonesome when he goes. Hats off to the great Sam Rosen.
Got me all nostalgic. I’m Irish grew up in England. I became a rangers fan in 1995, one of my Uncles (actually one of my da’s old friends) was a long haul pilot and regularly flew in and out of Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia. One time he had gone into a video game shop and asked for “whatever sega game is most popular with the kids” for my brother and I, and well it seemed at that time in NYC at least the NHL game with Richter on the cover was the one, Rangers were the default single player team. Skip a few years of looking at the USA Today the local supermarket would occasionally stock for scores and tables, we got the internet, and I started sneaking down to the family pc at midnight to listen to MSG radio featuring Sam on the homepage…. Those were good times, it’s going to be weird without him, I’m still not used to not hearing Murray Walker on Motorsport, or Motson for footie (soccer), or O Muircheartaigh for GAA….. Don’t think I’ll get used to Blueshirts without Sam.
