  4. Free Agency is so tough to look at. Every time there’s a great looking player, there’s immediate/valid concern that the contract will just be too much. Especially when it’s solid defensemen and the like. This year will be an interesting FA year though. Obviously going to see a spike in AAVs because of the upcoming big cap increases, but it’s hard to say how much AAVs will jump in year one of that. Feels like there way be some opportunity to jump the market this year because of more increases in the next few years

  12. Win or lose, it’d be nice to see a few guys hit scoring benchmarks they’re approaching. Raymond is 7 points from being a point per game (and 4 goals from hitting 30 again), Larkin needs another goal to hit 30, DeBrincat has an outside shot at 40 goals, and Kasper needs 4 more to reach 20.

    None of it means much, but last time we had 5 guys hit 20 goals was 2008-2009 (Z, Datsyuk, Hossa, Franzen, and Hudler), which is the same year we last had someone hit 40 goals (Hossa). I think the last time we had 3 guys hit 30 goals was 2002-2003 (Shanahan, Hull, Fedorov).

  14. I just need to make up 24 points in LTL to win. So we’re going to need a 6 or 7 goal game from raymond tonight.

  16. Yesterday I saw someone say the Compher contract was just as bad as the Abdelkader one and it made me lol.

    Compher is a better player signed to *about the same* money (with respect to the cap) and less term. I try to respect people’s opinions, but if there’s a such thing as an objectively bad take, that’s one of them.
