TLDR: Defense good. Offense not (yet).

Don’t want to rag on the kid or anything but can anyone pull up some stats around how many points he generates from his super high offensive rebounds rate? Feels like he grabs a lot of them but usually follows them up with a miss or a turnover. Sometimes 4 or 5 in the one possession. It’s good to have the high rate, but is it equalling points?
eh ion know ab that top 5-7 yes and im very happy with the pick still, hoping he develops into a 2022-23 walker kessler type of player
He’s really good and his biggest issue on the court seems to be conditioning, he also could maybe use a bit more improvement around the basket offensively.
Defensively he is incredibly good for a rookie, and is up there with some of the great C’s on that end in their rookie year. Shit, teams are figuring it out also you see players far less willing to go into the paint when Clingan is waiting.
If he can figure the offensive side of the game out more, he could be one of the all-time great C’s.
I’m very high on Clingan. Dude walked into the NBA as a slow 20 year old and is already doing some things defensively at an elite level. Most guys go their entire NBA careers without ever sniffing “elite” in a single aspect of their games. I am very interested to see how he develops physically and offensively in the next few years. If he makes big leaps in both those areas and stays healthy, dude can be an absolute force in the league.
Guys don’t even wanna go near the paint with Cling Kong on the court. When they do, he defends it like a champ. He’s only gonna get better!
His finishing is really hard to comprehend. He’s so big and yet he doesn’t want to smash the ball after an offensive board. Just learning to stuff O-boards with power and ferocity will add 6 plus point to his per game averages.
The good thing? Figuring out how to finish around the rim is about the easiest skill to learn.
This was a great rookie season for him. I fully expect better offensive production and conditioning next year.
Actually I think they said he is the second best rookie, not that he had the second best rookie season. If he had started all season he would have been in play for sure.
Love cling klong but 2nd best rookie with his injuries and lack of offense is kinda bs but hey push the agenda baby
