The Nevada men’s basketball team has announced the hiring of assistant coach Kyle Guy, who comes to Reno after spending the 2024-25 season at Virginia as a special assistant.
In 2019, Guy led the Cavaliers to their first and only national championship, hitting three clutch free throws with 0.6 seconds left in a Final Four matchup with Auburn before scoring 24 points in the title game against Texas Tech. He was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player.
Two months later, the Indianapolis native was selected 55th overall in the NBA Draft by the New York Knicks, appearing in 53 games over three seasons with Sacramento and Miami. He finished his pro career overseas and will now continue his coaching career with Nevada.
