Well yeah he can’t pass so he *better* be able to run
He REALLY needs that big target talent tigtht end as a safety valve. Dude never is going to hit receivers 25 yards downfield consistently. I’m not sure what Ballard is thinking sticking him with that ragtag group of nobody tight ends and thinking ARich gonna hit Downs in double coverage 25 yards away. Dual threat QB’s simply have to have a top 10 catching tight end or at least 2 very good ones.
Ideally your first 15 career games shouldn’t take two whole years, when you start day one. 11 passing TDs in 15 games is also not ideal. I don’t get as excited about rushing stats, that is a fleeting ability that goes away as you get older, the ability to pass keeps you in the league.
He has a long, long way to go in terms of his passing ability
He’s looking like a Christian Ponder level bust
But only 1 of those 3 did it in 2 seasons.
Now post his historically bad accuracy stats
I love cherry picked stats like this. It’s not hard to see that he isn’t a good QB and the improvement he needs to make meteoric
I haven’t given up on him, but he does need to take a big step forward this year. He needs to improve that god awful completion percentage, improve consistency, and flip is TD-INT ratio. We know he has the “wow” factor, the question is does he have the “grind it out” factor.

# Yea, so his two BIGGEST flaws coming out of college and we haven’t seen any different in the NFL.
He is ABSOLUTELY not on either one of their levels. This is a terrible misleading stat.
I don’t understand the delusion around trying to paint his qb play in a good light. He’s been one of the worst QBs we’ve all seen in a long time, and we’d be better off moving on instead of trying to develop a player that wasn’t even good in college
Didn’t he get fined for that hit on the safety lol AR put the dude in a bodybag!
I really feel like we are a TE1 away from hitting… or maybe I’m just hopelessly optimistic
I learned several years ago not to have expectations of this team during the offseason. Now is the time to lock in on the Pacers postseason!
I feel if he can learn to play small, checkdowns etc. He can be a great qb.
EVERY scout imaginable “he is a 4-5 project, but will be great” colts fans after a cpl years “throw that pos in the trash”
I truly believe we’re going to see Richardson make a leap this year. A leap into superstar caliber? Probably not. But I absolutely believe he will do enough this year for us all to have full faith in him as our franchise Quarterback. He had shoulder surgery his rookie year, so he really wasn’t able to develop his mechanics or even throw for a long time for last offseason. Now he’s getting a full, HEALTHY offseason, he’s working with the same biomechanics guy Josh Allen works with, he’s got Daniel Jones to compete with, and based on how much he improved after the benching last year, I’d imagine having Jones there is going to light a fire under him. He went through the benching, we’ve heard vets on the team say he responded to it well and has responded well to talks they’ve had with him, so I believe he’s going to mentally dial in and really grow in that regard as well. On top of that all, he’s still YOUNGER than Quarterbacks that are going to be getting drafted THIS YEAR.
Everything is pointing toward this being the year for him to really step up and show he’s the guy. I fully believe he will, but I’d also be willing to concede that I’m wrong about him and he’s not the guy if he doesn’t show it this year. This is the year.
Well, pack it up, boys. Ballard is a genius.
I’m pretty sure the first two took their job sereisly. AR, doesn’t he gotta go
Those other 2 guys already knew how to play QB and didn’t make the same bone headed decision to tap out and say that they were sore and tired when the teams needed him most.
I’ll stay with my decision to give up on him if I want to. Thanks.
Now if only AR could pass well..
I’m officially not taking a stance on AR until week 8. That’s been my timeline since he went down his first season and lost an offseason and I’m not moving it. However, I want us to take a QB in 4-6 if Howard or Ewers falls, or Leonard in the 6th or 7th if they don’t. I don’t believe Leonard is a solution, but he’s the same package in a power runner who can be a viable backup to DJ if AR goes down. Ewers or Howard can be a third QB option to be competition to whoever we end up drafting next year or 27 and can be a third QB until then.
Dude literally played hurt vs Houston. I was done with him after that. Don’t care how “young” he is. He’s an adult regardless of the age. If he doesn’t beat out Jones he is done in the NFL. Stop with this “don’t give up” on him bullshit. He sucks and can’t stay healthy.
If he just becomes a good quarterback, it’s gonna be great!
