For yet another year, Detroit Lions Legends will be back in the Thumb to play a basketball game and sign autographs for spectators and children.

This time, the Greater Thumb Area Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 148 in Tuscola County will host the Legends in a basketball game at Vassar High School April 17, according to a press release from the lodge.

At halftime of the game, the Legends will host an autograph session, in which all spectators will have a chance to get their picture taken and get signatures from the legends.

Past legends that have participated in the game include Herman Moore, Cory Schlessinger, George Jameson, Eddie Murray, Scott Conover and Rob Rubick.

"If you're going to just see basketball, you're going to the wrong place," Rubick said in an earlier interview. "If you're going to see your kids have fun, be involved and interact with former professional athletes, you're going to the right place. My guys (of the Lions alumni) do a great job. Most of them are fathers, as I am. Come out and enjoy it for a good cause. You won't regret it."

The Legends will officially face the Thumb Area First Responder All Stars. Tickets are $18 for a single spectator or families can attend the game for $50.

"We call it 'The deal of the century,'" event coordinator Rick Middleton said. "The deal is for the whole family: grandpa, grandma, parents and the kids. It's meant to be a great night out for families. At this event, your autographs and pictures with the former Lions are free. A full concession stand is offered as well."
