The overreactions in the game thread have been pretty funny
“Is Riley Greene washed have pitchers figured him out?” 😂
He’ll be fine imo
He will be fine but I really wish he was more consistent. Getting over these slumps is his next step to becoming a superstar
1/20 his last 20 ABs, he will get right
Last year Riley Greenes chase rate was only 23.1% and was in the top 85th percentile
He was also in the top 83 percentile in walk rate last year at 11%
With a whiff rate of 26.8% in the bottom 37th percentile
and a 26.7% K rate in the bottom 20th percentile
So far this year Riley Greenes chase rate is 32.8 % in the bottom 27th percentile
He has a 4.8% walk rate in the bottom 20th percentile
A whiff rate of 33.3% in the bottom 13th percentile
And a K rate of 39.7% in the bottom 2nd percentile
As you can see the differences year to year are astoundingly bad but if you have watched his at bats since the mariners series
Riley Greene has been pressing at a completely unprecedented rate
He is trying to hit a homerun every at bat and his discipline has gone into the toilet
He needs to be more patient at the plate
I don’t think it’s a problem with his swing path
His hot zones look fine
His average exit velo is fine
And his bat speed looks fine
I think he sees the ball just fine, it’s just his extremely undisciplined approach we’ve seen so far this year that’s hurting his production.
If he stops pressing he will be back to his old self in no time
Seems to be the same player he always has been. At no point has he not been a heavy strike out hitter. He is fine. Standard slump I would think.
I think this is why you see less about Riley and more about Keith/Kreidler/others – i’ve seen Riley figure it out more than once.
Riley and Tork can never be hot at the same time. Tis a rule…
He’s been swinging like Tork was LAST year…yikes .that weka upper cut late foul balls pop ups and strike outs..not seeing the ball and not swinging THROUGH the ball
There will probably be a lot of change to season batting stats, for better or worse, since it’s only (checks calendar) April 14.
