Ducks Sign Tim Washe to Entry-Level Contract | Anaheim Ducks

  1. >Washe, 23, was only eligible for a one-year contract because he turns 24 before Sep. 15. He’ll earn an extremely prorated salary figure for the final few days of the season before negotiating a standard one-way or two-way deal with Anaheim over the offseason.

    >Washe always admired Zetterberg’s two-way game and winning pedigree, and that helped shape the Western Michigan captain. Washe, 23, was one of the best 200-foot players in NCAA hockey this past season, capping his college career with a national championship win Saturday over Boston University.

    >He received interest from a number of NHL teams. And on Monday, he decided to continue his hockey career with the Anaheim Ducks, signing a one-year entry-level contract starting in 2025-26.

    >“He’s the most reliable (center) in college hockey back there,” Western Michigan star teammate Alex Bump said. “That’s what I admire about his game.”

    >Washe, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward, racked up 16 goals and 38 points in 42 games this season and was the best faceoff man in the nation at 63.1 percent.

    >“He’s a solid two-way player,” Broncos goalie Hampton Slukynsky said. “I love when he’s on the ice in the D-zone. I know he’ll help us back there — keep things under control.”

  2. As far as UDFAs go, I think this guy is kind of a big deal. Idk if he’s ever gonna have meaningful minutes in the NHL, but I think it’s a pretty big deal that people are signing with us when presented a choice.

  3. This is apparently a big get. A lot of teams had interest.

I haven’t seen him play but it looks like he could be exactly what we need for our bottom 6.

I guess he makes his debut against Minny?

  4. Best face off stats in college hockey and probably the best leader… this is a very solid signing for the future of the bottom six. Profile of a guy who will make it to the NHL.

Would love to make it a twofer and get Owen Michaels as well.

  5. A big 2-way forward who can be a leader is what we’re missing. A guy who gives high effort both ways can set a higher standard for everyone and improve our puck battle wins. Keys to success.
