  11. For all those who bemoan DEI and Black History Month and Jackie Robinson day, etc., think deeply about why any of these things bother you. There is a good chance you are falling prey to an attempt by culture warriors to make you think that racism is overblown, and in fact was never really that bad.

    We live in a privileged era of taking things like integration and the acknowledgment of Black history for granted. It is easy for us to brush these things aside as “unnecessary” or “woke” because we are living in – and benefitting from – Jackie Robinson’s legacy. When we get complacent and consider things “done,” that is how we backslide, and things fall apart.

    Please remember that for many people, this day isn’t just a feel-good symbolic holiday where everyone wears 42. It’s a reminder of how we overcame one of the most disgusting and harmful eras of American history; one that this admin is purposefully making us forget.

  14. Last game I saw at least 100 people sitting for the anthem in the nosebleeds. The Mets play in a neighborhood that is actively being terrorized by ICE where people are being rounded up and disappeared. I really hope as this crazy summer goes on the Mets make some type of statement decrying this overtly Nazi administration.

  15. Does anyone know if the Mets will all be wearing 42 for the Black Legacy Game? They keep mentioning Jackie Robinson in the marketing, and it’s the first home game after today…
