Cannot believe the MLB is whitewashing the legacy of Jackie Robinson while raking in millions from Jackie Robinson Day and 42 related merchandise. Cowards
It’s hard to think of a more impactful life than Jackie’s 🫡
Hey u/MLBofficial – fuck Manfred and the owners
Hey /u/MLBOfficial, can you please explain why Jackie Robinson’s life was impactful to MLB? The posts I’ve seen have been pretty vague.
Oh good, so you guys are going to speak out against the removal of his chapters in history right? Or is the MLB going to continue to be a joke.
Gosh I wonder what specifically Jackie did in history that would impact other lives? Maybe MLB can explain in detail?
Meanwhile the Dodgers and u/MLBofficial have spat on his legacy
Why was he impactful u/mlbofficial?
This entire episode of America the TV Show has been fucking gross and exhausting and has brought nothing but shame.
As an aside whoever designed the art attached to this post complete missed the point of a picture collage and I hate it.
And what is the impact and legacy the MLB shows by bending over backwards to the stripping of Jackie’s true legacy? You use his name for profit yet tuck tail to conform.
What impact did Jackie Robinson’s life have on others? Please educate us
His story will not be forgotten.
42 was a great movie with Chadwick Boseman
You know what would be awesome? If new generations could learn exactly why Jackie was so important and why we’re celebrating him today. You should probably mention that somewhere u/MLBOfficial since it’s something you plan on making money off of today.
I think it would be better if you told us WHY he was impactful rather than selling merch. u/MLBofficial
“A life happened, or something, idk” – MLB
He was impactful cause he was a great player who helped the Dodgers win their first World Series, not because he was black or anything like that /s
Be specific, you cowards u/MLBofficial. What, exactly, makes Jackie Robinson so special? Lots of guys played baseball in the 1940s, why is he the only one who gets a day?
Saw one guy on Twitter say: “Not this again, enough already.”
Like buddy they’ve been doing this since 2004
“A life is not important” -Jackie Robinson
-MLB owners, probably
u/mlbofficial it’s embarrassing how quickly you’ve folded to the will of this administration and the whitewashing of your history as well as our country’s. Jackie’s life and his legacy continue to be important, no matter which fascist-adjacent wannabe dictator temporarily holds power. Grow a spine and stand up for what’s right.
Sincerely – a fan who wrote essays as a child on the importance of 42.
Jackie Robinson arguably had the most important interview in American history when he spoke with Branch Rickey
If you aren’t going to talk about why he was important to sports you can fuck right off with your soulless profiteering and pandering.
I’m currently reading a biography on Bill Veeck. For those unaware, Veeck was a strong advocate of racial integration in baseball and ultimately signed Larry Doby to be the first black player in the American League a few months after Jackie Robinson debuted in the National League, all in 1947. Supposedly, Veeck had planned to buy the Phillies in 1943 and field an entirely black team that year, but he was blocked by MLB before that could happen. His idea was that integration was banned by a gentleman’s agreement among the owners, but an all-black team technically wasn’t integration. Once the other owners would have seen the 1943 Phillies dominating the league (i.e., a super team playing against white players evenly distributed on all the other teams), it would have forced the race issue. Obviously, it never happened, but it’s an interesting historical what-if to ponder.
The story of Jackie Robinson / Branch Rickey is well known, but I feel like the Larry Doby / Bill Veeck story is just as interesting, but almost entirely forgotten by baseball fans today. I’d definitely encourage people to check it out.
grow some balls
this guy must be pretty unimportant then since the MLB won’t talk about what he did
Explain why we celebrate Jackie Robinson. Be specific.
Fuck the Dodgers and fuck MLB.
Hey /u/MLBOfficial- why was Jackie Robinson important again? I can’t seem to find it anywhere in your PR this year.
u/MLBOfficial why specifically does Jackie Robinson have a day? Specifically what did he do to have such an impact? How did he change the game? Can you please explain why he was important?
Ban the official account or no balls
how about you stand up for the most impactful player to ever play the game? how about you stop bending over backwards to please those that wish to tarnish his legacy? grow a fucking backbone you cowards.
This is….not how photo collages work lol.
MLB sold out Jackie Robinson to kiss up to a racist former gameshow host.
Hey /u/MLBOfficial, usually when I see images in this style, the person compiling the mosaic has gone to the trouble to select images that naturally create the intended shape out of their existing colors. Instead, it seems like your “artist” just colored a 42 over top of a grid of desaturated pictures, without even attempting to line it up with the edges of images.
Why did your designer cut corners on their work in the same way MLB is cutting corners on describing why Jackie Robinson day is important?
Hey u/mlbofficial, since you have nothing to say about the white supremacist running the Defense Department removing Jackie from its bookshelves, I would like to ask everyone to read Jackie Robinson’s autobiography I Never Had It Made. It shows how Jackie’s legacy has been whitewashed by MLB and history to make him seem like some kind of submissive “let’s all get along” type of person when in reality he was a strong advocate for Civil Rights.
He was court-martialed while in the military for refusing to sit in the back of a bus. It ended up leading to him being discharged from the Army. His agreement with Branch Rickey to “turn the other cheek” when faced with abuse while playing was only for the first three years. Once that time was up and he started talking back the press that had once praised him turned on him. After his career was over he called out MLB for not hiring any black managers.
Fuck you /u/MLBOfficial, racist bootlicking cowards.
u/MLBofficial what is it about Jackie Robinson that made him so special, what were the challenges and struggles that he encounter not just in his career but his personal life as well. Don’t he the spineless flecks you’ve shown everyone to be this is your moment to grow a spine and stand up for not only a person but and entire movement that is still impactful and important to this very day.
Coward is karma farming and can’t even reply to any of the comments calling him out
Impacted so many lives that they’re trying to delete him from history. Got anything to say about that?
