  36. All year long we kept hearing ‘he’s working at it, he’s skating, any day now’, and I kept rolling my eyes. We’ve seen players try to come back from major injuries- sometimes it works, like Patrick Kane, sometimes it just doesn’t, like Niklas Backstrom. After three years, I assumed it just wasn’t happening, and the continued ‘just wait and see, any moment, he’ll rejoin the team!’ nonsense was just a waste of time. We’ve seen the last of Lando, and the only people who couldn’t see it were Lando himself and the Avs PR staff… right?

    I’m eating crow this morning, folks. I said it was unlikely to happen, and if it did it would be a game or two of pain and he’d walk away for good Backstrom-style.
