Habs fans when their rebuilding team is 6-1-2 in last 9, with multiple stretches of 3 games in 4 days, and have a 93% chance at playoffs

  1. Hi there! It looks like you’ve posted an image. If this image is from an article, please provide a source. If it’s a meme, please ignore this comment. Thanks!

  2. Once again, downvote tf outta me if you must. Stop it with this bullshit right now. You wanna troll fellow Hab fans who MAY be disappointed with not making the playoffs? Allow me to return the favour, OP and anyone who upvotes this post LOVES the idea of participation trophies. Yeah we excelled this year no doubt, BUT WE ARE ON THE DOOR OF THE PLAYOFFS. Get real OP.

  3. Remove the habs logo and throw Mike Matheson’s face up there then it’s accurate and true!

  4. I am honestly just happy to still be in mix down to the wire, but let’s be real. The last few games have not been very good, and to attack your fellow Habs fans who just want playoff hockey is kinda crazy to me

  5. Detroit and Nashville wins we’re so clean right lol

You can check the records and say “Damn we’re good” or actually watch the games and not be satisfied with the way we’re playing.

I just call it extremely lucky that we managed to get that many points with the quality of play in the last 5

  6. So you’re telling me you guys would be satisfied going 0-5 to end the season and miss the playoffs because of a tie breaker? “We’re just a rebuilding team!”, crazy.

  7. It’s just insane to simply still battling for a playoff spot with 1 game to play. Playoff or not, that season can’t be qualified to anything except a success into a rebuild that coming to an end. Next year, Reinbacher and Demidov will be there. KH can probably hit it big with a legit established 2C and a winger. MTL should have no trouble to qualify next year.

  8. Both can be true. The team sucks right now, they should have been skating in circles around the Hawks but they didn’t.

But I’m also seeing the usual toxicity that comes with a 3+ game losing skid. You know, the “fire MSL” squad that was so silent since December or the “let’s make our entire personality scapegoating one player” (rn it’s either Matheson or Laine).

While there’s valid criticism to be made on certain players or coaching decisions (especially after last night’s must win against the second worst team), the degree that people go to to trash the team they supposedly love is quite tiresome.

  9. Exactly! I can remember back in December when we were significantly behind the Bruins in the standings.

This team has had an amazing turn around. It was a rough start and things are going very well.

The energy on the ice and the energy in the stands is amazing! Go Habs!

  10. Habs are 0-1-2 in games where they can clinch a playoff spot this year.

93% chance isn’t 100%, and the game is played on ice not paper. We can’t bet on the Jackets losing to get us in, they need to punch their own ticket and they’ve been unable to do so. Now they have to do it against a strong opponent instead of a weak one. It’s a tough ask for a young team that looks exhausted right now, and it would be a sour way to end a great season.

I think they’re going to make it, and that this has overall been a very good season. But people aren’t overreacting to be worried right now that they’re going to fumble a playoff spot.

  11. This team is incredible and has surpassed expectations. All I ask is for them to give it all they’ve got against the canes. This season is already a success

  12. Fr, we were supposed to be basement dwellers this year, yet team is gaining valuable experience and playing meaningful hockey in April

People LOVE to complain, I’m a broncos fan for the NFL and exact same thing happened this year. Young team drastically over performed and limped into the playoffs, and people are complaining about their play as if they’re Super Bowl contenders

Sports fans love to complain and can’t appreciate their team’s success

  13. Where do you moralizers come from? You all overlook the fact that the Habs are on the verge of an epic choke for the history books — after having an 8 point lead a few games ago. NHL teams simply do not blow leads like that. It’s like blowing a 3-0 lead in a playoff series. It’s just not done. Happened only a handful of times in history. Fans starting to get upset at this stage are perfectly rational. The Habs could be heading to an embarrassing spot in the history books more than to a spot in the playoffs

  14. We’ll call it trash for a few days if we don’t make the playoffs. We would be disappointed and frustrated, players would be disappointed and frustrated. Players and fans share the same feelings. It’s okay, it’s normal. That’s what creates the bond and makes Montreal such a big hockey market by the way, like it or not.

Then we will all move on and feel hopeful for next season, but right now there is still a battle going on.

But let’s not give them excuses before they’re done please.

I think apologist are even worse than doomers in that regard. Rolling out the red carpet on the team and letting them slip on it while you smile and applause is just weird. Players expect you to expect them to make the playoffs. Otherwise that’s an insult to their pride. They don’t want you to babysit them and tell them « it’s ok guys you poor little things. We get it, you young and inexperienced. Our expectations were really low to start with so don’t worry, we got you! » You’re not their parents. They’re not your kids. They are proud grown up athletes. The crusade to invalidate any feeling of disappointment or frustration here is crazy. You gotta realize the biggest critics and « doomers » are the closet biggest fan there can be. They have the Canadiens success at heart.

That being said, I will be 100% behind my team against Carolina and 100% behind them next year no matter what happens.

This war we’ve got going on between us fans is stupid. We should just accept some are more intense than others while we can all agree we want our beloved team to win. I’m kinda sick of the people who provoke other fans based on their emotional reactions to an emotional sport.

    Go habs go!

  15. It’s like watching your kid run a race he’s not favored to win, but he ends up having a huge lead just before the finish line. Except instead of crossing the line, he stops a meter from it, lies down and takes a nap.

Like, regardless of initial expectations, are you telling me you wouldn’t be screaming from the bleachers for him to get up and cross that line?

Nah, part of development is learning to take your chances when they present themselves. If they end up blowing it, that is not good moving forward. It’s not about talent now, it’s about will.

  16. I wish I also didn’t watch the games myself and could just judge them based on cherry picked statistics

  17. Should have let Demidov shoot in the SO last night. That was a head scratcher. (Non habs fan btw)

  18. It is more the last three. It is also the fact that Columbus keeps winning at the same time.

  19. “Hey if we cherry pick these couple of stats and slap some specific context on top it, we might be able to spin this all in a way that bashes the fans who don’t regurgitate our preferred narrative! Neato!”

  20. People like you just refuse to look at reality lol

Did you not see the game last night? We were getting absolutely dominated like the 2013 Hawks were on the ice lol

  21. Theyre dead. Theyve been winning games lately despite being outplayed. Unfortunately the tank is empty.

Do they really have a 93% chance still? Feels like 50%.

  22. All I’ll say is this.

Against the Leafs, we had 7 shots on goal to start the 3rd period. 7 shots. The Leafs had 21 at the start of the 3rd. We are LUCKY Dobes played the way he did to keep the game tied at 0 because we had absolutely no business even getting a point that game. Easily could have been a blowout game.

I’m happy we can make the playoffs here, but a lot of work needs to be done. We have to be able to admit that without being called fickle fans. We want the team to succeed and get better, and clearly work needs to be done in order to get there.

  23. I feel Gary Bettman is upset! Canadian teams should not be there! I am cheering for all Canadian teams, including the Habs! Go Canada!

  24. This sub is so insufferable lately. Yes we’re allowed to be disappointed in the team playing badly and blowing 3 chances to qualify for playoffs.

It’s funny, we’re not telling you how to be as fans. No one is saying you *should* be disappointed, we’re just sharing our disappointment.

But everyone in this sub is telling me I HAVE to be happy because where the team was in November 🙄 y’all love participation trophies.

  25. Beating the cane’s might be a harder road, than beating the flyers + islanders.

  26. Suzuki looks gassed and for good reason. He’s been playing some really tough minutes. Team struggles badly when he’s not firing on all cylinders.

  27. They exceeded the hope for this season so it’s been a success no matter how it ends.

But blowing a playoff spot that was theirs to lose would definitely sting more than dropping out of the race a week or two ago.

  28. A lot of glass half full people in here. I wish I was one. Call me greedy but not making the playoffs would be so disheartening after being in the position we were 3 games ago. I’m happy for the boys, but yeah. I just hope they get in. It just seems like Columbus is a team of destiny right now. Especially with what happened to Johnny. Ngl. I wouldn’t be that upset if Columbus jumped us just for that reason. Still would sting a little though.
