[Garrett Podell] Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter hit on many things in our one on one chat. Hunter would rather retire than not be able to play both WR and CB in the NFL, his feelings on the Cleveland Browns and why Shedeur Sanders should be the QB1 in the 2025 draft.

  1. He would rather retire than not be able to play WR and CB in the NFL?

Well …. he better be ready to retire early then.

NFL teams aren’t going to pay him $30-$40 million a season for double the injury risk.

(***At least I wouldn’t think anyway***).

If that’s his true mindset then I would either take Carter or trade down.

(***Assuming the plan isn’t to just take Sanders at #2 and be done with it***).

If we take Hunter at #2 then I want him focused on nothing but being our WR1.

He could be an occasional 3rd & long or Hail Mary DB in important situations, but I certainly wouldn’t want him playing defense on a regular basis where he puts more wear on his body and doubles his injury risk.

    Just my two cents.

  2. Conveniently ignoring the fact that the reports that include this statement from him also state that none of the teams he’s met with have taken issue with his stance on this. The teams that are interested in him intend for him to play both sides of the ball. This is a non-issue.

  3. This article also uses out-dated quotes from Andrew Berry about Travis Hunter. He clarified his remarks about Hunter at the Owner’s Meetings.

  4. Does his girlfriend know about the threats he’s making lol.

She won’t be letting him retire anytime soon. TRUSSSS

  5. It depends on what he considers playing both WR and CB. Is 5 plays enough? 10? At some point he will have to realize he won’t be able to do what he did at Colorado.
