Edmonton Oilers could be without Darnell Nurse due to suspension | Oilers Update

In a heated matchup between the Edmonton Oilers and the Los Angeles Kings, defenseman Darnell Nurse delivered a cross-check to the head of Kings forward Quinton Byfield late in the second period. The incident resulted in a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for Nurse, while Byfield did not return to the game due to an upper-body injury .

The NHL Department of Player Safety has scheduled a hearing with Nurse to review the play, raising the possibility of a suspension that could impact the Oilers as they prepare to face the Kings in the first round of the playoffs

  1. Lets hope it is 1 game. Nurse dumb if he misses another playoff game and puts his team in a bad position again. This guy emotional IQ must be so stupid. Head butt in series one and vegas series game 4 attacking a playing player when game in hand and heading to a pivotal game 5 which edm lost and could of used him. This guy has been brutal putting his team in a bad position. Brutal. It could be 3 times now in the playoffs. So stupid.,

  2. Should be 3 games, but with only 1 game before the playoffs? Yeah, they will not do more than 1 game. He SHOULD miss game 1, but it I don't think they will. Lets Go Kings!

  4. When you look at what Soucy did to Connor with Zadorov at the same time, after the whistle. And you compare it to Nurse hit? Soucy got one game and that was in the playoffs.

  6. IT WAS NOT A HOCKEY PLAY ! Byfield has emerged and is such a key factor for the Kings , and will try to be the cryptonite for mcdavid ! ( I know mcdavid is a super hero and has no cryptonite ) , however it could change the series , and honestly if this happened in the post season I would say eh…. However trialing 4-0 late in a game against the team you’re gonna match up against I would say tactical and premeditated! Should be suspended the whole first round !

  11. His bearhug grab on Byfield head down to the ground is worth of game misconduct and ejection from the game. BUT then the follow up "with intent to injury" player laying face down directly to back of head/. To me that should be a 10 game sus at least. If the NHL wants to be serious an totally eliminate these kinds of plays especially to the head. You dont wait to until the man unconscious to say ok maybe thats worhty of a game or 2…sheesh. If I grabbed a guy on the street to the ground like that and then struck the back of his head…how much jail time would i get…hhhmm??!!!

  12. You said it yourself, “The league has a history with Darnell Nurse”. He’s a repeat offender. He should get 3 games at least, it’s honestly help the Oilers not to have him on the ice.
