What will Brooklyn Nets GM Sean Marks do with all his draft picks and cap room?

If we go the “Trade for an All-Star” route, I might just cry.
If we draft well/get lucky this year and next year the Knicks picks become expendable. Just hope we don’t do anything stupid, I’m tired boss
There was a report saying the Pelicans ownership are gonna force the new regime led by Joe Dumars to trade Zion.
The issue is Zion’s contract. The Pelicans can either cut Z for nothing and remove him from their salary cap or if they don’t waive Z it means they will guarantee the next three seasons of his contract at max money.
I can’t imagine many teams are going to give up first round picks and players to acquire Zion and then pay him.
The Nets will have cap space and could offer Zion a large contract – but not three years at the maximum of Z becomes a free agent.
Brooklyn can offer him the most money as the Nets have the most cap space. Perhaps even a two year max contract with the second year being a team option.
This way Zion still gets max money in 25/26 and either again in 26/27 before returning to free agency in 2027 or he becomes a free agent in 2026.
The issue is Zion’s health and that’s why three years at max money is just so dangerous because if he gets injured again that three year contract becomes an anchor on a team’s salary cap and we know from Ben Simmons what it’s like to pay max money for a player that is not on court. It means you can’t compete.
Zion is a game wrecker when healthy but he has been available for less than 50% of the games in his career.
If the Nets could draft Flagg and sign Zion into cap space that is transformative for the franchise. Flagg being on his rookie cost controlled contract allows you to take that chance with Zion and his health.
Zion wants to play in NYC.
If the Nets add both Flagg and Zion do the Nets contract Phoenix and enquire about Durant’s availability.
A starting five of Cam Thomas, Cooper Flagg, KD, Zion and Claxton is an exciting line-up.
Yes, it’s complete fantasy but there is a way it happens with the ping pong balls going our way and the Pelicans releasing Zion.
