MJ striking out to close the game is the cherry on the shit pile.
This is your game: 2 – 0 : 2 outs
This is your game on Zerpa: 2 – 4 : 2 outs
Any questions?
We learned some stuff from that game at least. Zerpa really isn’t it while Sisk and Cruz show heavy promise, would love to see them get more opportunities.
Having a season heavily focused on playoff teams from last year to start off is not great, I can’t wait to get to easier series so we can get going. 8-10 with these teams isn’t that bad.
we were far too focused on Melendez to remember who the real domestic terrorist on this team is
My fault guys I really wanted the royals to be good this year
Well that was sucky. Score shows if it wasn’t for the Zerpa inning we could have won this, too bad. Can’t only blame Zerpa, top of the lineup came up but couldn’t produce either. So very frustrating, at least this hopefully shows management Zerpa is NOT the guy for high leverage.
Seriously 100 percent we win that game if Zerpa keeps his ass on the bench.
Royals started 6 players with BA under .200. Salvy is squeaking by with .206.
7 of 9 batters (3-9 in the order) batting .206 or BELOW – Not understanding how we keep losing!
Zerpa sucked and putting him in was a questionable choice at best, but 2 runs isn’t enough to win ballgames. Didn’t have a single hit for like 4 innings to end the game
reeks
Pain
Get one for Boobs tomorrow, what a disappointment tonight. MJ got a homer tho, so that’s nice. Probably bought him another month at least with that lol
Boycotting until they score 5 runs in a game
If you pretend zerpa doesn’t exist we won 2-0
what’s a sadder “good game” between Pratto going 2 for 4 and having his AAA OPS increase from .378 to .440 and MJ hitting a homer and having his OPS increase from .284 to .374
I’ve adjusted my season expectations. They’re not awful, but the improvement needed wasn’t made unfortunately. This is a 77 win team imo
Unless some players start stepping up this team isn’t winning anything this year. Can’t win the needed games with a great pitching staff and a lineup getting 4-6 hits a night.
Even if eventually Cags is the player we hope he turns into, we still need 2 OFs, 1B, and 2B. Thats too much to fill but the trash the prior GM left us
More thoughts: Kind of bummed the MJ homer turned into a loss. Also, Wacha needs this team to get him a win, 0-3 for a pretty good pitcher makes me sad.
As always, go Royals. Let’s avoid the sweep tomorrow please.
I am going to >!**UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS. THIS COMMENT HAS BEEN SEIZED BY THE AUTHORITY OF REDDIT INC. AND MAY NOT BE VIEWED BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC. REPRODUCTION IS PROHIBITED.**!< Angel Zerpa.
Anyways, this team is in a spot where they have to make every single play or they will lose. They didn’t get Judge out to start the 6th and then gave up 4 runs with 2 outs
JJ blew the offseason. I don’t think this is fixable. At some point you might consider leaving everyone in the minors until September to avoid losing a year.
Everybody know what Zerpa does, so the blame should really be on Q

It is so frustrating; Zerpa cost us a chance at winning that game. Our offense is so inconsistent; it is either hot or cold with no in-between. They need to bounce back tomorrow. Go Royals
I didn’t watch tonight. Considering we couldn’t hit grandpa Carrasco, wasn’t hopeful we’d hit Fried well. Appears I was wrong! Got 5X more hits against Fried. Runners LOB hurt again 4 last night, 5 tonight. Can’t do that in a tiny park. From what I read, Zerpa blew it. It happens. Overall the bullpen has been serviceable. Got more pitching options than hitters, that’s for sure.
Concerning: Yankee’s opponents have averaged 5.55 runs per game at Yankee stadium, this year. Each of those opponents scored 7+ runs in at least 1 game. We have 4 runs total in 2 games.
TLDR version: Bobby legacy game tomorrow. Book it.
Yes, its a long season. But you’re seeing the weakness of this team. It was the same weakness last year: hitting. Zerpa has arguably cost us 2 games already (the Yankees have a top 5 lineup, so don’t place too much blame there) but the bigger issue is the AAA lineup. Having India be the big off-season acquisition is just frankly embarrassing for a team that claims to have deep playoff run ambitions. This team may sneak into the playoffs like last year, but the lack of hitting will be the downfall if there is one. I don’t care that MJ hit a home run, trade him or get a minor league guy who’s hitting. Trade Renfroe yesterday. Enough already.
Game was definitely winnable, offense and defense both looked much better than it has. Costly mistakes and unfortunately Evil Zerpa (Xerpa?) showed up tonight again.
Yeah we could have won but we aren’t beating anyone good 2-1 or 3-2 consistently. Bats gotta wake up! We will be alright
Putting that loss on Wacha feels so wrong
Zerpa should be done. Just run with Sisk and Cruz from here on out instead of Zerpa and Long
Why would you put in Zerpa in that situation lol? I know our offense sucks and you shouldn’t win when you score only two runs, but we still could have clinched this one.
What’s wrong with letting Lynch (a 5 billion times better pitcher) get one out if you really want a lefty?
Putting in Zerpa in a high leverage situation with bases loaded is absolutely insane, it is like giving the game away, unless you have no other option.
