Dwyane Wade says Pat Riley has done as good of a job as anybody to be in his position. Agree or Disagree?

  1. He’s still a great executive, who’s made his mistakes along the way.

**Held on to Jimmy for too long?** Yeah, but most teams don’t initiate the ‘break up’ with a superstar, and hold onto them a year too late.

**Didn’t do enough to surround Jimmy with talent?** It’s definitely up for discussion, but only Pat and Andy know what deals were on the table during the Jimmy era, and you don’t want a front office that goes “full-Ishbia” and gives up the farm for middling talent like Bradley Beal (which we know was on the table)

Regardless of any perceived decline in his recent years, it still holds true that Pat will leave this team in much better shape than when he found it.

  2. Pat in this picture probably:

“You see that cloud on the horizon? That’s the stampede of haters who call themselves Heat fans running to talk shit on this thread below.”

  3. We’re gonna miss Riles when he’s gone. Executives like him are rare. Just look across town at the Dolphins.

  4. Whether or not Pat has changed philosophies or lost a step (I think he’s more committed to young players and development as he ages, maybe to the detriment of going ‘all in’ on Butler’s few seasons) – he’s still a solid president and much, much better than the nepo baby who will be taking over his job when he retires.

  5. I both agree and disagree. I think he has done his best on trying to land stars. It’s not as easy as people make it out to be. Our assets just aren’t that good, and a lot of teams are wary of dealing with the Heat. We had a reputation for winnging most of our trades. I think the Rozier trade should go a long way to dispel that.

I think the problem With Riley has been how he deals with players on our roster. He is still using that old school approach of calling out our players publicly. That doesn’t work with the new generation of stars. You need to keep that in-house.

He also refuses to trade players while they have value. They could have traded Vincent, Strus, and Caleb before they became free agents. Instead we let them walk for nothing. Jimmy should have been traded last offseason, but they refused to see the situation for what it was. It’s another outdated approach that needs to be fixed.

I will say that Riley, Outside of calling out players, isn’t the only one at fault. A lot of the decisions aren’t being made solely by him. There are a few voices giving input into these moves. So when we are critical of something they do. We should be bashing the front office. Not Just Riley himself.

  6. I mean this franchise wouldn’t be where they’re at without him but the last few years haven’t been pretty to say the least

  7. He’s gotten much better at drafting players.

He couldn’t have handled the Butler situation any worse until the trade

  8. We’re a top 10 team all time in terms of win percentage, we have 3 rings, a great culture, he hand picked Spoelstra who is going to go down as one of the greatest coaches in history.

You don’t spend 30 years at a team without making some mistakes. But you measure those mistakes against everything he’s done for us they just don’t even compare, he’s a one of a kind and things won’t be the same without him

  9. I still wonder how things would have turned out had Riley gone with Kaman instead of Wade, like he wanted to initially? Regardless though, I’m glad some talked him out of it because the Heat w/o Wade just wouldn’t feel right.

  10. I’m sure most of us didn’t agree how the Jimmy situation was handled. But most of his tenure we’ve been relevant. At least we’re not the Wizards or some shit.

  11. Wade is a real g, Pat fked him over even though he sort of redeemed himself with Wade later, statue included to signify how grateful he was , but Wade man, they dont make them loyal like that anymore lol

  12. Oh how quickly the rabble jump to question our dark lord’s ability… *force choke*

  13. Yes… besides the time when he called a timeout when we didn’t have one, and lost by one point to the technical free throw.

  14. Nobody is batting 1000% in life and nobody is winning all the time. He has done a great job with the organization and have had a lot of great years. People gotta relax.

  15. While I’m not wholly happy with how the last 5 years have gone from a roster construction perspective, I am willing to credit that they did find decent talent around the margins in ways other teams did not and that there were certain things that were somewhat out of their control that prevented us ever getting the whale to take us over the top.

What I do think is an unforgivable error is doing that Terry trade when they seemingly had no intention of going all in on Jimmy. You only do that trade if you’re still in on Jimmy. A rare panic move from the front office that is currently costing us for the foreseeable future.
