  4. I don’t buy it. Nico already plotting his exit strategy and trying to save face by throwing Dumont under the bus and leaking this to Shams. Speculation on my part, but Nico has had PLENTY of time to share this if true (it isn’t).

    If it really wasn’t Nico’s idea and he’s just following orders why would he go out of his way to paint Luka as a fat Euroslob who can’t jump over a phone book?

    He could have just said “he was an excellent player but we felt AD was a better fit” or something, but he went the extra mile to downgrade Luka AND the fans

  15. Nico should have resigned soon as they told him to trade Luka and then leaked this shit. Luka may have still been traded, but they are going scorched earth on him. He likely is done working anywhere ever again. I hope it was worth it for him to not have integrity as a man and not become the sole fall guy.

  27. It’s one thing to make a bad trade.  Bad trades happen.

    It’s another thing to disgrace your superstar on the way out the door, coming from both GM and owner.  Why not just thank Luka at the presser, acknowledge the fans’ reaction, and be respectful?

  29. Dumont may not know shit about basketball, but at least he ostensibly knows business. When someone’s decision is universally derided like this, that’s an obvious red flag signifying incompetence and extreme malfeasance. Throw in how much $ the org is projected to lose.over the next decade and there’s no way Dumont doesn’t realize how stupid Nico is and treats him accordingly.

    Best thing Dumont could do is fire Nico and make a big show about consulting Dirk in the search for a new GM.

  32. I’m personally not against the trade.

    I think everything that followed the trade is just dumb and makes me dislike them. It’s almost as if he is enjoying being the villain and taking the spotlight.

    They need to go out in the summer and get another piece for the deal to be completely worth it now and smearing the player after he leaves / loving the attention or going out of their way to attract it isn’t going to make players feel comfortable about going to Dallas.

    Trade Luka state your reasoning and leave it at that.
