Also, price will come off LTIR, making it extra extra special
I was kinda shocked that hes only 34
Merci, M. Savard.
What a fucking warrior he is. I can’t imagine how bruised he is day to day from eating pucks and battling with guys. Respect Savy
A bonus for the back end next year. Retiring young, hope his health is ok.
what a warrior he was for the team
We need to bring home the cup for a home town boy
Damn. Do it for Savard!!
I seem to recall the last time we made the playoffs with a soon-to-be-retiring Man Mountain of a defenseman……
I had some feeling that it would. His skating has really slowed and it’s noticeable, especially down the last stretch of games. I did notice in a pregame his walking was noticeable in that he had a slight hobble. He’s probably pretty banged up. Either way, he’s been a cornerstone in a franchise that needed stability.
I hope the Habs org finds a way for him to hang around. I think both him, and Gally (when he decides to quit), should stay there long term.
Well, that’s about 200 blocked shots we won’t have next season.

I’m glad he could retire as a Habs. He deserved it. I hope they have a good run.
Joined Habs after robbing them of a Cup in 2021. Leaves Habs giving them a Cup in 2025.
Thank you for everything you contributed to the Habs Savard!!❤
yeah i feel like i knew that for a while now, and that was one of the reason it never made sense to me for people to complain when they scratched xhekaj from the lineup. like you can’t remove hutson matheson guhle carrier, struble played too good to be removed, which only left savard. you can’t take out a veteran like him who is playing his last season, that’d be so disrespectful and cruel, especially considering how hard he works day in and day out.
anyway, i hope the best for savard, seems like a genuinely nice guy who did a lot for our team, i hope he enjoys his last games and his retirement, he definitely deserves a peaceful life after all those shots he blocked. you did a wonderful job peepaw 🥲
MY FRIDGE
Je vais tellement m’ennuyée de crier PAPA SAVARD !!! à toute les fois qui block des shots.
J’avais encore espoir qui le prenne 1 saison de plus comme 7e def à suivre l’équipe avec un rôle plus de support et de profondeur.
Softens the blow a bit on benching Arber.
Makes sense, he’s won a Cup; swept the Lightning and helped bring the Habs back to the playoffs.
I’d like to see him work with the defencemen post-retirement, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he steps away from the game entirely.
One last dance.
Let’s go.
Kind of figured something was up when he had all his family in the players box for pictures before the start of the last game.
Savard said he’ll miss the crowd but not all the injuries. Said his decision was taken months ago.
Most definitely playing through some injuries. Might be the kind that take surgery + rehab, and at 34 he’s probably sick of that shit.
Also contract ends this summer. His decision was made before the TDL. Might played a part in the extra push the team made to make the playoffs. Staying put and making the playoffs here at least once was definitely a better scenario than spending the last few months of his career living in an hotel away from his family.
Hope the extra motivation carries into the playoffs.
So much to play for man. Savy’s final run. Gally’s mom. Marty’s first playoff run. Suzuki’s first run as captain. Montembault’s first playoff run. First full building playoff run in 10 years. And not to mention the biggest thing: no cup since ‘93.

With the amount of abuse he has put his body through taking those shots, Savard has been an animal for us.
