If there’s anyone who knows what Lamine Yamal is going through as a left-footed prodigy who plays in Barcelona’s right wing at a very young age, that is Lionel Messi. And the GOAT is a fan of his potential successor.
The current Inter Miami forward and Barça legend spoke in an interview this week and was asked about Yamal, who is considered by many to follow in Messi’s footsteps as the next great Blaugrana. And Leo is very impressed with what Lamine has already accomplished at such a young age, and thinks the sky is the limit for the teenage superstar.
“What Lamine Yamal is showing is very impressive, not only what he’s doing but what he’s already done, being a Euro champion with Spain.
“He’s only 17 years old, he’s still early in his growth process and will continue to grow as a player and bringing new things to his game, just as I did. He has incredible qualities and is already one of the best players in the world.”

That is quite the endorsement coming from the greatest to ever do it, but Yamal is absolutely on shortlist of the world’s best players this season. As long as he stays healthy and continues to improve, there’s nothing he can’t do and Barça fans will continue to enjoy his magic, just as they did with Messi for almost two decades.
