Bear called up

  1. As long as he stays in his positioning, doesnt try anything stupid..

    We will be just fine.

  2. I imagine this is just for insurance, it doesn’t mean he’s necessarily going to play.

  3. I think he’s being brought up as a Black Ace. He probably won’t get much playing time but in case anyone goes down he can step in.

  4. Can’t you have more people called up during playoffs? Doesn’t mean he will play

  5. I wouldn’t worry too much, as this is a very common type of move since there are no roster size limits in the playoffs. Caps played 25 different players (16 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goalies) during the Cup run. Given the age/injury risk of our defensemen (especially RD), it makes sense to carry more than enough just in case.

  6. The comments in this thread just confirm that most Caps fans know very little about hockey.

Why would Bear play? Think about that for a second…

We have 8 defensemen on the roster. Only 6 play in a game at a time. He’s now the 9th defenseman.

Possibly, one of our RD’s is a little banged up, there’s no Salary Cap or roster limit in the Playoffs. Bear has had the best season of any of our RD’s in the AHL this season, plus he has the most NHL experience of any of them. So he’s next man up IN CASE OF INJURY. THEY WOULD LIKE HIM TO PRACTICE WITH THE TEAM JUST IN CASE HE HAS TO SEE THE ICE IN THE PLAYOFFS SO HES AS READY AS HE CAN BE.

This all translates to that he’s now 5TH on the depth chart for RD’s, or 9th overall on the depth chart. So in order for him to see the ice, 4 defenseman would have to be injured enough to not play.

    Use your brains people.

  7. Has no one heard of depth? Chill the fuck out, guys. This literally means nothing.
