  1. If the Leafs can't finish the series in 5 or 6 (worst case) games then they deserve a first round exit. Its that simple with this squad.

  2. Ottawa has had good goaltending but bad defence. Now they proper D core with Jensen and healthy D core for a long time. Chabot has been missing lots of time past few years. Proper D core is the difference maker, ask Boston if you dont believe 😂 Ullmark of course is upgrade but his stats didint bring ottawa to playoffs, it was DEFENCE

  3. The Leafs have better offensive skill and upside, a deeper, experienced defense corp , and a goalie whom is 8/0 in his last 8 games , with 3 shutouts in his last 4 games played, in Stolarz! This team is built differently this year, than the past 8 years, and have momentum and swag going into the Playoffs! It will be a grind against Ottawa, but the Leafs will prevail! GO LEAFS GO !!!!

  4. “Can Matthews and Marner get past the mental hurdle”. You mean, playing against elite defensive teams and elite goaltending in the playoffs? Guys this is a dumb narrative. It is hard to score against elite defensive teams in the playoffs and the best goaltenders.

Ask McDavid if he had mental hurdles in the final. He had zero points in games that mattered that series. He was shut down. Zero points in every Florida win including game seven where Edmonton scored one goal. This is what fans and pundits keep ignoring. When you go against elite defensive teams in the playoffs it’s not going to be a scoring fiesta. You aren’t facing crappy goaltending if you were playing the Atlantic division every year. The Atlantic has more cup winners than any other division past six years. That has been the problem for the Leafs. You can’t get out of the second round if you are the second or third best team in your division. That was the issue.

Atlantic teams made the final seven times in the past six years. The issue is the Leafs have been the second or third best team and always had the worst goaltending in every playoff matchup. This is the first year that isn’t the case. It’s why they won the division this time. They are the elite defensive team and top dog in the Atlantic. They won’t have trouble scoring against a wild card team.

Since Dec 15, Leafs are the top team in the NHL. That’s a 50+ game span.
