Add another West Coast Conference championship to the trophy case for Oregon State.
The OSU women’s golf team captured a sweep at the WCC tournament, winning the team and individual titles Saturday at Green Valley Country Club in Fairfield, Calif.
Sophomore Raya Nakao won the conference medal with a 54-hole score of 4-under 212, finishing the tournament with an even par 72. Nakao, from Hawaii, defeated San Francisco’s Eva Pett of San Francisco on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff.
The Beavers won the team title with a 5-over 869, two shots better than runner-up Pepperdine. Oregon State had the outright lead or was tied for the lead after each round.
It is the school’s first-ever conference title in women’s golf, with its previous best finish a tie for second place in the Pac-12 tournament in 2022. This is the first year Oregon State has competed in the WCC.
Kyra Ly finished fifth after shooting 73 for a 54-hole score of 2-over 218. Madde Sund tied for 13th at 6-over, Rebecca Kim tied for 15th at 7-over and Clara Alevag tied for 21st at 12-over to round out Oregon State’s scoring.
OSU earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with their conference crown. The selection show airs at 10 a.m. Wednesday on the Golf Channel.
The NCAA Championships will take place at six regional sites across the country from May 5-7. This marks Oregon State third consecutive regional appearance.
