3. Realistically not a suprise.

4. If we lose Tuesday would that be the 5th time in a row we went down 0-2 to start the series. Please don’t go down 0-2

5. If Luke Hughes is out next game, or worse, out for the series, I’m going to lose my shit

6. The injuries hurt much more than the way we played. I would have had hope that maybe we could adjust but with three players out/playing injured I don’t feel confident. 

7. The only positive from last night’s game was Marky kept us in it, and then he went ahead and murdered Glass. Just gonna be hoping for positive injury news today I guess

9. The injuries were brutal. If Hughes is out a rebound is going to be rough

10. The unfortunate thing is even with Jack and Siegs back, the result wouldn’t have been much different. Those 2 can’t make up for some of the other guys (Mercer, Palat, Haula, Dumo) being deadweight and dragging their feet. 

    Mercer is the biggest disappointment for me. He’s constsntly given more and more chances in bigger opportunities and never runs with it. The only time I noticed him is when he drew a penalty yesterday when the team was already down 3-1 I believe. 

    Palat is just dragging everyone down with him. He’s setup multiple times every game and the play just instantly dies when the puck reaches him. He either can’t control the puck, shoots it into the goalie, or makes 1 and only worst possible play available.

    Haula been on cruise control since last year. Faceoffs aside, He’s unnoticeable and he just needs to go at this point.

    Dumo….. for all that size, he play as soft as baby shit and just casually guided the canes player into Markstrom yesterday instead of clearing him out and away from the net. Would’ve much rather Fitz overpaid for someone else that could actually make an impact.

    Honorable mention: Timo needs to get his shit together. I’ve defended the guy multiple times but he’s been too inconsistent since he got here. 

    Bratt:  Needs to get back to playing simple and not try being Jack Hughes by going through the entire team or making iffy plays at rhe offensice blue line and turning the puck over.

    Fitz: He really needs to do something with this core. It’s a group of very good players and one of the top 1-2 punches at center and either through drafting, free agency, and trades, hes failed to build around them. This offseason he needs to focus on the entire lineup, not just the 1 or 2 major issues on the team ( last year he got Toffoli and neglected goaltending, and this year he focused on defense and goalies but neglected depth/ the bottom 6)

11. Maybe its because i had little to no expectations but i actually feel fine. Seamus time.

12. Its like I’m watching the Devils of old, i have 0 feeling they will ever score v this team .

13. The strength of Carolina is their relentless pressure, not sure why the Devils seemed unprepared for that.

What a chaotic day and game not surprised since they had the DEVILS scheduled on Easter Sunday 🙄 I let myself get hyped up on all of the underdog “they are being disrespected” narrative and now I’m back to, I’m glad they got in, hopefully they gain valuable experience, management truly sees the flaws and adjustments are made this summer. That being said I’m not totally counting them out after 1 game. Anything can happen. The Carolina system is a pain in the ass but the goalies are beatable if they can get some pressure on them. The problem is to pressure them you need possession and that wasn’t happening yesterday until the Canes sat back and it’s was too late. I don’t know how you figure that out against them with this depleted roster but let’s see if the coaching staff can come up with something. I hope our injured guys are ok.

19. The clip of Markstrom taking out Cody Glass will be the image I will most associate with this season.

21. Not confident in this team at all. Glass is most likely going to be out, and we’re already struggling with our current centers, so we’re really weak down the middle which is a disaster against a strong forechecking team like the canes. Just hoping to not get swept.

22. honestly dudes….did you hear how silent the crowd got any time we had momentum or a shot at all? i think this carolina team is teetering and if we score a few easy goals, especially on special teams, we could watch them totally deflate. if we take a win in their stadium i genuinely believe we could win in 7
