With all the talk around Campbell being the likely pick and the worries about his arms, I think it's a good time for a reminder that Will Campbell is one of the most athletically gifted lineman in the history of the draft as measured by Relative Athletic Score. Obviously much has been made of him being an outlier in terms of length, but he is also a significant outlier in terms of athletic ability, which is probably the best asset to have to overcome length deficiency.

A+ leader and A+ athlete, a solid choice at #4 to fill a need and build the culture of this team.

  1. People tend to ignore this, hes an outlier in arm length but also a serious outlier in Athleticism. Im willing to bet his generational athleticism makes up for whatever 1/8 inch people are stressing about

  2. No no, this goes against the circle jerk here that he sucks and Vrabel has no idea what he’s doing as a coach if he picks him

  3. Jeanty had the 2nd most rushing yards in a season by a college running back ALL TIME.

  4. Fine with the Campbell pick but RAS means nothing. Cole strange scored a 9.95

  5. Honestly I’ll take Campbell. I got faith in him as a LT regardless of all the arm chair GM’s here who’ve scoured him extensively through their computer screens lol.

Jeanty is a beast but productive running backs aren’t rare. You get the line figured out and the whole team eats, because Maye makes plays.

My biggest thing is accumulating as many picks as possible. I care less about the 4th pick and more about what we walk away with after the draft as a whole tbh, but that could be offseason fatigue talking at this point lol.

  6. Campbell > Jeanty. Jeanty is a finishing piece and we need trench reinforcement.

  7. If you combine his RAS with his wingspan and average it, he’s about 750th out of 1,507

I know they’re taking him. I hope he’s an all pro.

  8. Holy crap he has a 32 inch vert?! He has basically the same vert and 40 I did in high school and I was a not completely awful WR.

  9. I like the RAS overall. But what’s annoyed me a bit is declaring elite overall athletic performance when they skipped key drills. Like the 3 cone and short shuttle imo are more important for OL than the 40.

  10. The arm length listed here is the short length from the combine that people keep referencing, whereas his Pro Day measurement was 33 inches.

A lot of the measurements for a variety of players at the Combine were shorter than expected, and the Pro Day measurements are not a case of “cooking the books” — they’re done by nfl team scouts (not people from LSU). And 33 inches is what people were expecting. So I’m going with that one.

  11. I was curious so I looked it up. Technically he’s tied at 14th with Tommy Doyle from the 2021 draft class. Here are the 13 that ranked ahead of those two (happy to see our old pal Vollmer on this list!)

    .
    1. Spencer Brown (10.00, 2021)
    2. Taylor Lewan (9.99, 2014)
    3. Kolton Miller (9.99, 2018)
    4. Trevor Penning (9.98, 2022)
    5. Jared Valdheer (9.97, 2010)
    6. Mike Waletzko (9.97, 2022)
    7. Sebastian Vollmer (9.96, 2009)
    8. Lydon Murtha (9.95, 2009)
    9. Brian Mihalik (9.95, 2015)
    10. Joe Alt (9.94, 2024)
    11. Joe Staley (9.93, 2007)
    12. Lane Johnson (9.93, 2013)
    13. Ezra Cleveland (9.92, 2020)

  12. It just doesn’t seem very meaningful at all. Like a bulk of his score is coming from being a relatively fast runner, which is absolutely worthless for a LT. His shoulders being ridiculously narrow easily offsets any general “athletic” score.

  13. This arm length is so stupid. Who are these “Scouts” saying 32 5/8 is short compared to 34. Look at your fingers and measure 1 3/8. Explain to me how this 1 3/8 is going to affect him?

The guy is 6’6” and weighs 320 or so. He let up 2 sacks in the past 2 years in the SEC which is considered the toughest conference in college football.

Stop listening to the media and so called scouts and realize he will be great if he’s drafted.

  14. After tomorrow Campbell is officially our guy and we need to just look at the positives

  15. Well that settles it, he’s either going to be a hall of famer or an all time bust.

*I just wish we’d lost to the fucking Bills so we were in the driver’s seat*

  16. Wow, he can jump and run, good for him. How does any of that translate into being a good OT? last time I checked OT’s didn’t need to run or jump. Where’s his agility test scores? What’s all that orange, ohh yeah, the shit that matters. He didn’t even do bench to prove if he’s even strong.

Mike Tyson’s was one of the most athletic people in the world in his prime. I certainly wouldn’t draft him in the NBA and expect him to dunk on Jordan.

    What a fucking shitpost.

  17. Will be plenty of busts in this draft. Will will not be one of them. Name the 100,000 lineman that have better wingspan that played zero downs in the NFL after getting drafted… they forget the important things like how do these guys actually play football in a real game?
