Nevermind the fact that last year he was our best bullpen arm since 2014 Paplebon, or 2008 Lidge. Nope, too risky!

  2. We were never going to match his price. He got $33M and we would’ve paid more like $66M because of the luxury tax.

  3. This team is gutless. The division looks to be about 25 games away at the point. And don’t get me started on Harper just moping around and not running for shit. He’s either hurt or being a salty bitch.

  4. The management doesn’t want to spend more money. This was the year to win it. All the veterans, they should’ve gone all in and not Cowboys all in

  5. if hoffman stayed his numbers would look like romano’s and the. you’d be complaining why didn’t we get romano…well maybe not you but someone would of, lol.

  6. I wanted to bring Hoffman back too, but to be fair the Orioles and Braves both backed away from deals with him after his physical. There’s no reason they couldn’t have found better arms to bring in though.

  7. Everyone was ready to move on from Hoffman after the way he ended last year and the price we needed to pay for him. Romano has been a disaster, but there was 0 chance we were keeping Hoffman.

  8. Dombrowski recently said they offered Hoff a contract similar to the one he signed with Toronto. So, at least they tried.

Edit: Dumbrowski was actually a hilarious typo. I’m actually a fan of the guy.

  9. Romano falls off a cliff even further and Hoffman rebounds higher. Sounds just about right.

  10. Losing Hoffman hit hard man I loved him. Like seriously, how do you let a guy like that walk and look at your bullpen and think “Yep, this is much better. Glad we could save a little bit of cash!”

  11. Question.. what’s our coaching staff like for the bullpen/pitching? What’s the general consensus here?

  12. To be completely fair to Dombrowski, the word was Hoffman was looking for a lot more in terms of years and guaranteed money than the 3/33 he got from Toronto. Dombrowski essentially said they offered more than that, Hoffman’s people turned it down, and they moved on. Then Hoffman settled for less later.

  13. I get losing Hoffman due to the perceived issues with his physical and his quite justified price tag.

I also get signing Romano as a reclamation project.

But I absolutely don’t get putting all our eggs in the Romano basket.

  14. DD loves overpaying for washed up relievers. I’m shocked he didn’t give up a top 10 organizational prospect for David Bednar too.
