I know this might get me downvoted or chastised or what have you, but my Dad, raised a Cubs fan in the 70s and 80s, switched his allegiance to the White Sox because he couldn’t stand Cubs ownership and didn’t feel like they were serious about winning.

Now I’m sitting here in 2025 watching my beloved Sox team continue to operate as not only the most pathetic baseball franchise maybe ever, but perhaps maybe the most pathetic American Professional Sports franchise. It feels impossible that it can be this bad but it is. I’m 27 and I feel resigned to the fact that I’ll never see the White Sox win a World Series again. At this point I would die happy with just a singular playoff series win.

Hell I was at the blackout game against Minnesota in 2008 that was the last time they even advanced in the playoffs! I was in 4th grade! It was my birthday present! I teach 5th graders now! I barely remember it

And in the past two nights the Cubs have won two games against the alleged juggernaut Dodgers and in exciting fashion. I just keep wondering why I should pour emotional investment into an organization that does not care.

The situation with the cubs is obviously not perfect but by golly at this point I’m not even asking for an elite baseball team I would settle for mediocre just not embarrassing. I just want to turn on my baseball team and feel like it’s around a 40% chance I see them win. The bar is so low and they just can’t reach it. I’m just so sad and embarrassed of my team.

What’s worse is I stare at this framed set of pictures hanging on my wall in front of my bed every night

  1. They are red hot right now, but it’s April. Let’s see where they’re at in July. 🤷‍♂️

Lmao wut. If you want to be envious of a team you might as well be envious of the Dodgers. If you want to switch allegiance, you might as well switch to the Dodgers. Switching from
Reinsdorf to the Ricketts when there is an entire league of better owners, might be one stupidest things I’ve ever heard of

  3. The Dodgers’ pitching was never going to be that great this year with all the question marks. The Cubs have a solid offense, but that pitching won’t take them far. Nothing to be envious about, plus it’s only April. They could be out of it come August, and everyone here will be talking about Da Bears.

  4. Can’t stand post like this, but this poster’s father was a turncoat.

Bottom line in my mind? You’re either loyal or not – Sox, Blackhawks, Bears, or Bulls.

It calls into question – are you willing to endure the pain to see winning or is your appetite primarily for popular or winning teams? If that’s the case? The South Side doesn’t need you. We LOVE baseball. We go to games to watch – not be watched. We respect our greats.

We’re just waiting for Jerry to F off into oblivion to hopefully have an owner who drops dime one on our squad.

So if you just wanna pretend to feel good? Bounce to other teams that are popular or doin’ well at that time.

As for us? We’ll still be here for the TEAM (not the owner / media hits / bullshittery). We’ll keep community. We root for US.
