[Charania] Warriors NOT expected to sign Dwight Howard ahead of training camp

  1. He’s probably washed beyond belief if we didn’t sign him and we desperately need bigs.

I have a feeling they didn’t like either what they heard in the interview or they didn’t like what they saw in the workouts

  2. >”The Warriors are not expecting to sign Dwight Howard or another vet center ahead of training camp sources tell me. The Warriors are expecting to maintain flexibility to sign a potential big man into camp or the regular season.”

Sounds like they are waiting for a buyout guy. Gallinari or Muscala from the Wizards (both make less than the NTPMLE) who currently have over 15 players signed to a regular NBA contract and need to waive/buyout a few would be an idea. This is how they operated to get Ty Jerome and Anthony Lamb (🤮) unexpectedly on 2-ways

  3. I could see it be more about him not adapting to the Kerr playbook.

It seems like a lot of processing and having to anticipate.

  4. As they should, he’s not the same player he was in 20′, and his defense on jokic in the bubble gets more overrated every year, it’s kind of funny.

I watched pretty much every game he played for the sixers in 21′. Had some moments in the regular season. Come playoff time he was unplayable. Too slow on defense, too many low bbiq moments.
He’s cooked. Was top 3 in techs for that season (+14) even with low minutes. We don’t need another poole trying to compete with Draymond for the most techs.

His image has turned around some lately, but is a big personality. Has also been accused of SA lately.

Signing a big is probably a good idea if something decent appears. Dedmon, Dwight, Cousins… In 23/24, that’s no decent anymore. They’re washed.

I also have faith in TJD being playable, plus Saric is a perfect fit for us.

  5. Fucking why. So we’re just betting the whole season AGAIN on Looney playing all 82 and then being healthy for the playoffs?

  6. I don’t mind that at all. We were going to look like last year’s pre-trade deadline geriatric retirement home Lakers squad.

Our core is already old, it’s better to surround an older core with younger supporting talent than older supporting talent.

  7. I kind of figured this since they already have a lot of bigs to play the 5. Looney, Saric, Draymond, TJD, Garuba. Dwight would have made it a logjam at the 5

  8. “Dwight, you’re just gonna be running pick and roll and dunker spot. Is gonna be absolutely incredible”

“Got it, Dray. Pick and fade and corner 3s”
