  1. Glad to read that Firstov has both demonstrated a large jump in maturity in the eyes of the Iowa coaching staff, and that’s he’s filled out a bit. If he can successfully make the jump to the Wild’s bottom 6 in the next ~2-3 years, that will really help our scoring depth at a time when our Cup window is slamming open.

As for Stramel: please God, leave the Badgers. Kid needs a fresh start, at a program that our Wild have a better working relationship with.

  2. Regarding Stramel, I think he should go play in the WHL with the Victoria Royals who own his CHL rights.

I look at a guy like Kieffer Bellows who had a tough D+1 in college then transferred to the WHL where he put up decent numbers and regained his confidence.

Bellows’ NHL career hasn’t taken off thus far but at least he’s played in almost 100 NHL games and is doing well in the AHL.

  3. Interesting excerpt in this article about prospects not getting ice time and transferring out of Wisconsin:

“Stramel has become a hot-button topic among Wild fans, but there are several high-profile NHL prospects not getting significant ice time with the Badgers.

Detroit second-round pick Brady Cleveland dressed for 16 games, Columbus third-round pick William Whiteclaw was the 13th forward in the NCAA regional, former USNTDP captain Zach Schulz played on the third defense pair, Ottawa draft pick Tyson Dyck and Detroit’s Sam Stange were scratched in the NCAAs, Nashville prospect Aiden Fink decommitted and went to Penn State, 2024 draft eligible Will Skahan decommitted and is now going to Boston College and Seattle draft pick Tyson Jugnauth left after 13 games this season and had 41 points in 41 games for the WHL Portland Winterhawks.”

  4. Russo’s opinion on Stramel to leave Wisconsin.

I am not disagreeing. But it is not sourced from Stramel.
