As a newer fan I don’t know all the history and I’m wondering why the Wild went through five captains in one season… What happened during the 2007-08 campaign?

  1. Instead of having one captain early on in their tenure, they rotated captains every month. This was pretty common until Mikko Koivu established himself as the player he is known for.

  2. They used to rotate captains throughout the season. Mikko was the first “permanent” captain. That’s also why no captains are listed prior to that – all the A’s would rotate with the C.

  3. I don’t know if I’m in the minority but I did not care for the rotating captain C.

  4. I am trying to remember the first captain for game one of season one and I just can’t pull it out of the old memory bank.

    Edit :

    It was Sean O’Donnald

  5. Like others have said, for the first 8 years, we rotated captains each month. Once we changed coaches, Todd Richards decided to make Koivu the first permanent captain after he held it for 5 of the 7 months in the previous season.

If you look at the team’s Wikipedia under players, just below the current roster, you can see the breakdown of all our captains under Lemaire.
