  1. We should do this with all teams… Citi *cha-ching* field… coors *drink drink* field… Petco *woof meow* park

  2. >for whatever reason

This is because the “Toyo” in the team name stands for Toyo Kogyo, which is the business that would later become Mazda. When the Matsuda family sold Mazda to Ford, they kept their stakes in Toyo Carp, thus Carp didn’t go through the normal corporate name change that other teams do with a transfer of ownership. (If they did, we might have had a Mazda Carp, or a Ford Carp). Instead, they became the only NPB team that is majority privately owned. The Matsuda family connections led to the Mazda stadium name sponsorship, and “Zoom-Zoom” was the main advertising slogan for Mazda at the time.

  3. wow this is bringing up a repressed memory of absolutely hating that stupid ass “Zoom Zoom Zoom” commercial where the kid whispers “Zoom Zoom” at the beginning or end

  4. Dude they have a section of beds in the outfield it’s the greatest ball park ever!

  5. I miss the days when a stadium just had a name and wasn’t a corporate plug.
